The strong and tough Democrats

The capitulation on FISA is as politically self-destructive as it is unconscionable on the merits.

The letters thread is now closed.

LWM/KB4hire goes for slander this morning

... what else is new.

LWM/KB Ron Paul is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Ron Paul is Lyndon LaRouche-lite

You have yet to state a position of Ron Paul's that you disagree with and show how it is wrong. You have adopted the old USSR method --- the accusation is the proof.

Miss the USSR do you?

The magical mind of the cultist

Many expert political observers over the decades have always said that if you go far enough 'left'; you end up at the far 'right'.

Name one (besides Mona before she came to her senses).

Or as the wife says, "the difference in conservatives and liberals is who they want to kill".

Some here might like to thank "the wife" in advance if she ever decides to slip some arsenic into your tea.

Note: Bigot: –noun

a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.

And your remarks about liberals and conservatives and collectivists are what?

re: Kitt - Bucky "hearts" Ron Paul

There is no Republican, other than Dr. Paul, that is even tolerable. If he were elected, there would be many, many Democrats and Independents in his administration. In fact a Ron Paul/Dennis Kucinich ticket would be one that would restore hope in my heart that my country has a chance to stop being the world's bully. Dennis K. on top of that ticket would work also.

Ron Paul is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Ron Paul is Lyndon LaRouche-lite

"A more important point, though, that's overlooked in all this is that Ron Paul has made a career out of transmitting extremist beliefs, particularly far-right conspiracy theories about a looming "New World Order," into the mainstream of public discourse by reframing and repackaging them for wider consumption, mostly by studiously avoiding the more noxious and often racist elements of those beliefs. Along the way, he has built a long record of appearing before and lending the credibility of his office to a whole array of truly noxious organizations, and has a loyal following built in no small part on members of those groups."

"His history is replete with far-right dalliances, and more importantly, many of his current positions are taken directly from the extremist right, and in fact embody the propagation of their longtime agenda. A look at his record makes clear how and why this is so."

"His propensity for right-wing extremism manifested itself fairly early in his career, even before he ran for president as a Libertarian. One of the earlier signs of this was his association with Gary North, the son-in-law of R.J. Rushdoony, the founder of Christian Reconstructionism and himself a leading figure in the movement. North served briefly on Paul's staff in the 1970s, but their association continued well beyond that."

And the conclusion:

"Ron Paul may or may not be a racist -- and arguing about it is likely to end up nowhere. But what is unmistakably, ineluctably true about Ron Paul is that he is an extremist: a conspiracy theorist, a fear-monger, and an outright nutcase when it comes to monetary, tax, and education policy. The more believers and sympathizers he gathers, the worse off the rest of us will be."

The fact that a certain someone would advocate Ron Paul based on the single-issue of being against all war, shows just what a kook he is himself. Add in his positioning of a Dennis Kucinich/Ron Paul ticket proves he's a fool and has no idea where Dennis Kucinich stands on the social issues closest to Kucinich's heart. DK wouldn't go near RP with a 10-foot pole. Their positions on nearly everything are miles apart.

Dennis Kucinich is a liberal who believes the government can actually help.

Ron Paul is a nut case extremist more in tune with the John Birch Society.

And L.W.M

It would be political suicide for Dennis Kucinich to be in any way associated with this:

http://www.stormfront.org/forum/showthread.php/ron-paul-just-won-aug-409024.html

Just as it is for Ron Paul and why he will never be President. Ever. Not to mention suicide for this country. We've had enough Republicans from Texas for one century, thanks. No matter how much they pander and triangulate.

Ron Paul and Dennis K. both are never going to be president simply because America will never elect any anti-war president. We are empire.

You are being foolish to write off an antiwar candidate simple by his home state! Of course we all know your real reason --- you hate freedom.

LWM thinks he is a political guru

"This is for the benefit of the non-cult members. The cult members live in their own private reality."

What a comment from one who must ask William what candidate to back! From a cult member calling another fellow a cult member. Wow.

So what 'cult' do all Ron Paul supporters belong? I always like to here the bigoted view of LWM and his various sock-puppet incarnations. Yes, anytime you paint with a brish that large, you are engaging in bigotry.

"In terms of the totally screwed up political lanscape of the current American political scene, "far left" is far left and "far right" is far right and never the twain shall meet except on one or two narrow single issues."

More foolishness. Many expert political observers over the decades have always said that if you go far enough 'left'; you end up at the far 'right'. Or as the wife says, "the difference in conservatives and liberals is who they want to kill".

Buddhas told to apply for reincarnation

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22183463-5005961,00.html

From correspondents in Beijing

August 03, 2007 05:49pm

FROM next month, Tibetan living Buddhas will have to apply for reincarnation to the Chinese Government.

The new rules are "an important move to institutionalise the management of reincarnation of living Buddhas," the Xinhua news agency said.

According to the regulations, which take effect on September 1, all reincarnation applications must be submitted to religious affairs officials for approval, Xinhua said.

China is ruled by the Communist Party, which, despite being officially atheist, maintains strict controls over Tibetan Buddhism and all other religions.

Living Buddhas are an important element in Tibetan Buddhism, forming a clergy of influential religious figures who are believed to be continuously reincarnated to take up their positions anew.

Often there is more than one candidate competing to be recognised as the actual reincarnation, and the authority to decide who is the true claimant carries significant power.

This is especially true in the case of the Panchen Lama, the second-most influential figure in Tibetan Buddhism behind the Dalai Lama.

Chinese authorities detained the Dalai Lama's choice as the Panchen Lama in 1995 when the boy was six years old, and he has not been seen in public since.

The Chinese Government's choice as the Panchen Lama has, meanwhile, been paraded around the country in recent years to promote China's rule over his homeland.

China sent troops in to "liberate" Tibet in 1951. The Dalai Lama later fled to India in 1959 after a failed uprising and established a government-in-exile in Dharamsala.

If you give a government enough power, time, and technology they will demand you get permission or a 'permit' for anything. Next, a 'soul tax'. :-(
