This has been said before and
must be said again. It isn't the Democrats, the Republicans or even Bush. Ultimately, it is us.
We don't demand news, we contentedly watch Paris Hilton reports. We don't demand transparency from our elected officials - we treat government like a sausage; we don't want to see how its made - and we are not participants in our patricipatory democracy.
We accept at face value the corporate newsfeed, and we talk not about the value of involvement in this country and in the world but about who will win Idol.
It's us alright. Shame on us.
