Admit it, Glenn: you're a traitor. You and every other supposed "citizen" who fails to worship The Usurper as the god he is.
Shame on you for wasting that valiant patriot's time with your terrorist demands.
Seriously, you've got more patience and persistence than I would have. And every piece of evidence helps.
Thanks Glenn. Loved General Boylan's oh-so-subtle challenge to you to come to Iraq to interview Gen. Petraeus, implying such an act might put you higher on the list. Seems like the bar is being set a little higher for you than for Hugh Hewitt, no?
All anyone has to do to know what is going on surgewise in Iraq (or Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, etc.) on a daily basis is to read Juan Cole's web site, http://www.juancole.com/.
It is not a big secret.

is today's example.
It is blatantly obvious that Petraeus is as much a propagandist as the media people he "informs." That is not at issue. What is at issue is whether he and his bosses will be held accountable for it, both politically and in the media.
You are doing a good job, Glenn. I just wish you had more help.
It is apropos to mention the new Executive order signed by President Bush, which people suggest essentially criminalizes opposition to the Iraq campaign. The order seems to indicate that people who are active in some way in destabilising the government of Iraq, or the rebuilding of Iraq, can have their assets frozen or ceded to the state.
Given that you admit you are a skeptic of the war, and that the opinions expressed in some of your columns could be construed as possibly being destabilising to the situation in Iraq, does it concern you that you could now be a target of the administration yourself?
This most recent order seems to throw a rather large net over anyone who is a skeptic of the foreign policy of the US in Iraq. Is it not time to push for impeachment before the police state is complete?

Re:"Blocking Property of Certain Persons Who Threaten Stabilization Efforts in Iraq"
Remember, the way to show respect for the officer corps of our military is to manipulate them so that only those who agree with the political goals of a partisan administration are placed in or maintained in prominent positions.
In Bush Jr. world, partisan manipulation of professionals IS respect. Neutrality is when you fire everyone who disagrees with your crazy opinions and you promote everyone who agrees with you, qualified or not.
That said, it doesn't matter if Petraeus or his spokespersons deny anything Glenn suggests. What matters is that well-read writers are paying close, close attention to these military officers' activities in the political arena.
"If you find that you will be here in Iraq, please let me know as most of the interviews that Gen Petraeus prefers to do are here in Iraq face-to-face and mostly on battlefield circulations."
It's my impression that Hewitt did his interview from the comfort of a stateside studio, not after traveling to Baghdad and experiencing "battlefield" conditions nor playing to "battlefield circulations" (Stars and Stripes?, the "Marine Corps Gazette"?).
Maybe someone should extend an invitation for him to come to New Orleans/the Gulf Coast and experience, first hand, some of the problems we face right here in America which could have been (at least partially) alleviated with just a small portion of the $10 billion/month we are throwing down that Iraqi rathole every week. Don't get into an email trading contest with this Clown (Col. USA), Glenn. He's paid with our tax dollars to protect the interests of the military and he'll just wear you down until he retires and then takes on gainful employment as a "head" with Fox News.
I have written Gates in support of your interview request. We can compare shades of blue while waiting for his reponse.

Sec. Gates,
It is my understanding that Glen Greenwald wishes to interview Gen. Petraeus. Having given an interview to Hugh Hewitt, the General should agree to an interview from Mr. Greenwald.
Accordingly, I urge you to: first, review Mr. Greenwalds writing at Salon.com to see that his positions are well reasoned and articulated and second, require the General to talk to Mr. Greenwald who represents a view that doesn't mirror the Adminitration and who would therefore address in a tough but respectful manner many important questions left unasked by Mr. Hewitt.
I hope the intern reviewing this email is able to add it to a large (and growing) stack of similar requests.

What makes the interview "exclusive"? I didn't see an answer to this...was there a particular subject matter that had not been talked about before, or is it just that there had not been another interview recently (thus creating a gap of time in which this interview is the only one, and thus "exclusive")?

Now they're sending me via email unsolicited forms to embed in Iraq, along with emails that say things like "Thank yuo for inquiring about covering Operation Iraqi Freedom . . . Aattached is a file 'Media Embed Application.'" I suppose they think there is some point to be made if I don't run over and turn myself over to the U.S. military to guide me around Iraq even though, as you say, Hugh Hewitt didn't.

An "exclusive" interview is one where only one person can ask questions and broadcast the answers, as opposed to an open press conference or a series of interviews on the same day or in the same time period where multiple interviewers can ask questions.
