I don't know what motivates Bush...
...I can't really know about his religion or his true beliefs, just like Glenn said.
But what makes him and his fellow partisans think that lying for their cause is so acceptable?
The famous "WMD" fraud provides the most classic example, but the list is endless.
And now the wingnuts and their mouthpieces are seriously advancing the argument that Scooter Libby's perjury was not that big a deal, so he should not be punished. Presumably Bush and Cheney believe the same thing, though they don't dare come right out and say so.
Giving yourself the moral right to lie or commit other crimes because you are the "good guy"...I don't know what else to call this except "evil".
Do you? Perhaps "amoral" or "sociopathic"?
You sure can't call it civil disobedience, because folks like Ghandi and MLK and yes, Jesus, did not shirk the consequences of their so-called crimes.
