Last week's Pew poll noted that 70% of Republican men said there was a "good chance" they'd vote for Ol' Fred, while about 60% each said the same of McCain or Giuliani or Romney or Gingrich.
With Republican women, things were reversed; McCain, Giuliani, Romney, and Gingrich had a "good chance" with about 40% each, but Ol' Fred clocked in at only 30%. See: http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=334
So the answer to Matthews's question seems to be no. And just in passing, the GOP pack as a whole seems to have a problem attracting women . . .
