There are two separate reasons for the particular ferocity.

A: It shows how they ginned up the evidence and ignored the truth in order to start the Iraq war.

B:They don't actually give a rat's ass about weapons proliferation, terrorism or national security.

THAT'S why they have to push back so hard. Because they would gladly sacrifice our safety in order to pursue their wider agenda which has absolutely NOTHING to do with defending us against terrorism.

There are some late 17-year cicadas that crawled forth from the earth today. I love cupping the hands around the ears to raise the decibel sound. What I do not understand is why the CIA cannot make a straight forward statement saying Ms Plame was covert. Finding refuge in the law and regulations is fine if she remained in office. But she left they could have said so. It is laughable to hear things like: the CIA cannot admit to having spies. Please! Mr Fitzgerald should also have said so in court. All the legal dancing is fine when dealing with open minds. But when you have liars and distorters like Glenn Reynolds, Novak and the Boosey Bafflers: Genova and wife you have no time to play footsy with the rules.

I wonder if the apologists will be quiet today, as they really have nothing to hang their hats on anymore. Not even Toesling's asinine testimony that should have her disbarred or even prosecuted.

I just finished writing a note to Corporate Headquarters of Goodyear Tire&Rubber Co. For me, the Plame situation has always been a touchstone for the Right’s sociopath traits. When they were confronted with the truth that would expose their lies about the justifications for war with Iraq, did they argue back on the merits? Present evidence? No – they viciously attacked the innocent wife of their enemy, who so happened to be a CIA agent, only multiplying their egregious behavior (as a former intelligence agent myself, I can tell you there is no bigger sin than what was done to her). The actions of mentally stunted thugs, no different than wilding youths attacking a perceived weaker target. The Right (both the politicians and the enablers in the press) has women issues – whether attacking them as in this case, or making sure they hire young, easily manipulated and pliant ones to do their bidding in positions of influence (see the Justice scandal). Confronted with a strong, smart, independent women, they get flummoxed and hateful – I for one am tired of this country being run by the boys who threw rocks at cootie-filled girls on the playground. My kingdom for an adult.

That they haven't called for "enhanced interrogation techniques" to be employed to uncover the guilty and catch the perpetrators in this "threat to national security" case, isn't it?
