  • We need clear definitions

Muslim = jihad (orange alert! orange alert!)- round them up now!

Christian = doing God's work, thankfully Diebold recognizes this as part of their software.

Jewish = kind of doing God's work, but not really the right God, however since it advances the Christian objective we'll let it slide a bit.

atheist = wacko liberal scum that the Christian right should kill, kill, kill in the name of the lord.

  • Beaten?

"In Vietnam we were beaten by an enemy more tenacious and committed (i.e. fighting with patriotic zeal), and, should have, learned some important lessons."

We were never beaten in Vietnam - we killed a million of those guys to our 50,000 dead - . We destroyed their cities and villages - and lost not a single American town or buliding. We left a legacy of stumps for legs and land mines all over the joint.

    We just didn't win...

  • LWM @ 8:42

Whatever that meant it packed a wallop. It felt like a bolt of Zeus's fire-ball lightening.

I heard a crack-scream-shrill sound. It descended come forth from a blue sky. I will have read that 101 more times. Methinks my ingles is like dark Worcester sauce. I will take it like a graham cracker, tuck it under my armpit, crunch the {c} Quaker, and eat it in creamed corn soup. Why is everyone acting so corny lately?

I ask that. It's not funny. It's do or die deadly. Be truthful. The truth will not hurt YOU or knock your dirty socks off when it thunders storms inside. How does one transform what LWM said into a church/synagogue/Moslem's etc., crunched, holy, tasty, miracle wonder-women-bread communion wafer. One waffle that don't stay stuck on the roof of your big mouth?.

    I am hungry. Later. honest.

  • @Anonymous

I take it you don't tourist vacation in Vietnam.

  • How The World Sees America

There is a very big divide in the way outsiders see the American public.

Some think Amerticans treat each other more kindly than Europeans. Others think where Europeans will speak their mind Americans are less likely to speak openly, preferring to be well thought of than to say what they think.

I don't know how true this is but the idea that Americans will agree with anything that is put to them seems to suggest there is something in it.

As an aside, British pollsters have trouble finding people willing to respond.

  • "So what does that make him?"

A person that wants to have their his cake (be a sympathetic Muslim),

and eat it too (Take advantage of US opportunities while remaining apart from it).

I believe the families of the London subway bombers held similar views.

  • dhimmi?

I don't get it. I thought dhimmis were infidels -- you know, the people that Jahangir on whom imposed the jizzia. They're explicitly fair game according to the takfiri. In what way do the expressions dhimmi and dhimmitude connote some kind of sympathizer?

  • Confuse I do when talk I backwards...

I meant "the people on whom Jahangir imposed the jizzia." Tongue put in backwards today.

  • Anonymous is right

As even Noam Chomsky acknowledges, we won in Vietnam, (and he still calls it an invasion and war against the Vietnamese, which it was), but we didn't quit when we had achieved all the objectives we were going to achieve, and get the hell out. Kind of like today in Iraq.

  • Let me get this straight.

The poll about the Muslims’ views on violence is manipulated but the poll about Americans’ views on violence is correct? This kind of apologist nonsense might be part of the reason the word liberal has become an expletive in this country.

  • RE: Dhimmitude continues

"Let's hear something about Islam's subjugation of women for a change, or maybe it's homophobia..."

Typical Shooter - skirt around the awkward issues that plague the Christian Right as well. While we talk about Islam, why not also talk equally about the Christian rights homophobia and subjugation of women that is on an equal par? Oh, right - it's easier for you to point the finger at others than look inward. Last time I checked it was the Christian right that virulently opposes any type of gay rights in this country not Islam. And the Christian right is just as happy to have women back in the homes letting men be the deciders. So tell me, which religion is more dangerous?

  • So who does this remind you of?

A person that wants to have his cake (live in America),

and eat it too (Take advantage of US opportunities while screwing it up for everyone else).

    A conservative Republican!

  • Odd that Shoots

is using terms like "dhimmitude" now. He's usually more cautious and circumspect, (except for the Max Cleland incident). Perhaps he can see the writing on the wall, (Big DayGlo Font) and he's going for broke. Nothing left to lose, Shoots?

  • The word liberal...

...is not an expletive in this or any other country. It is an expletive among the same crowd of language incompetents who saw the -ic off Democratic and put it on atheist. As for Glenn's use of the polls, the polls have their failings, massive ones, but his point is that you can draw the same conclusions about polls of other groups as the FUD people on the right are drawing about the polls about Muslims.

All demagoguery, all the time. Have you watched V for Vendetta?

  • "Liberal?" Really?

This kind of apologist nonsense might be part of the reason the word liberal has become an expletive in this country.

Actually, the real reason is that idiots use "liberal" as a shorthand to dismiss any view that opposes their own.

In actuality, paleo-conservatives and libertarians are constantly tarred as "libruls" by the knee-jerk radical neocons.

Believe in the Constitution? yer a librul!

Believe in fiscal responsibility? yer a librul!

Believe in letting other countries run their own business? go to hell pinko swine!

Believe in shrinking the federal government? oh you better believe that's librul now! we got borders to fence and wires to tap, boy!
