@ electrolite
So when this latest bit of kindergarten-level right wing "logic" fails, what's next with these people, time-outs?
That's the easy part. Blame everyone else: the people who opposed the war from the start or came to after it went south, the politicians who actually listened to the public, and of course the "liberal" media. History does in fact repeat itself, tragically and farcically.

Slogans and sound bites
It occurs to me that the reason Democrats are traditionally bad at "messaging" and boiling down their policies to sound bites and slogans is because they have real policies to begin with.
For Republicans, the slogan is the policy. They don't start with a well conceived, detailed plan and try to boil it down for easy digestion, they create the slogan first and try to create the policy details later, after getting elected. If they can't make a good slogan out of something, they won't make a policy of it.
It's no different when you see some organization whose name is a really cool acronym like T.E.A.M. but the words behind the letters are a real stretch, and you can just tell they came up with the Acronym first, then tried to figure out what the letters stood for. "Totally Efficient Activity Makers" or "Terrific Exceptional Anti-Abortion Moms"

Southpark the bastards
I want to see someone do a Southpark-like animation using some of the wingnut talking heads doing these cheers that jpmillertx submitted. Then put it up on Youtube. I don't have the tools or the talent to do it, but maybe someone will take the idea and go with it.

Not Bush's Fault
No outrage from these people that Bush hasn't managed to "win" the war in four and a half years, after 3300+ dead troops, 28000 wounded, 70,000+ civilians killed, $550 billion, etc. It's his war. He is responsible.
But N0000000 Nothing is Bush's fault. They blame the media, Democrats, gays, activist judges, Al Gore, bin Laden, the dot-com bubble, the climate of liberalism on college campuses, 9/11, Zarqawi, Darwin, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, the governor of Louisiana, Saddam Hussein, the dot-com bubble, Nancy Pelosi, the mayor of New Orleans, rap music, abortion,
...but not Bush. NEVER Bush. Ain't done nothin' wrong in 6-plus years. An amazing record of competence--- stunning really. Perfection.
Anything bad is someone else's fault. They're very good at pointing fingers. The ONLY "outrage" they can muster is for the Democrats want to stop it.... finally.... at long last... after this think has gone on longer than any other American war besides Vietnam.

winning, vietnam style
I don't understand what these "wewintheylose" types are about - and they don't make it too clear, themselves - but personally, I'm all for "winning" the Iraq War, Vietnam style: We withdraw our forces, leave the citizens of Iraq to fight their own civil war and design their own civil peace, and in 20 or 30 years' time, when they have a functioning free market and the beginnings of real democracy, we reopen a few McDonalds' and declare victory.

The Right's Version of 'Surrender'
It's time that somebody (ahem, Mr. Greenwald) pointed out that the right's whole mantra about Iraq becoming a 'terrorist haven' the second we leave is pure, baseless conjecture.
Proponents of this view of 'surrender' seem to think that any withdrawal from Iraq will be instantaneous and wholesale, literally leaving posts and weapons abandoned as the 'terrorists' jump for joy and take aim at Israel. Everyone, of course, knows that the withdrawal will be necessarily phased, slow, and strategic - no one has yet suggested that we don't need to have troops stationed nearby to lend assistance to the Iraqis where necessary, especially where the affairs of the 'terrorists' are concerned. The mouthpieces on the right make it seem like Iraq will drop completely from the world's agenda post-withdrawal, allowing all hell to break loose (any part of hell, that is, that hasn't been unleashed by the invasion). I haven't, however, seen anyone make public note of this fact, and frankly it's been fodder for the right's media machine for far too long.
What do you say, Glenn? I'm confident that you could dispatch of this argument in 10 paragraphs or less, and reduce it to the point of absurdity it (in reality) already occupies.

Victory Caucus members
It might be useful to remind people that RedState's Ben Domenech resigned that position a year ago when he was publicly exposed as a serial plagiarist. They've obviously decided he's done his penance, but there's nothing wrong with a little character assassination of righties - give them what they dish out.

Shooter is all for Solidarity as Long as The Sacrifice Comes From Others
George H. W. Bush made many pro-Vietnam War speeches, but probably not at home, since none of his four healthy sons volunteered to serve there. America lost in Vietnam not just because the non-conservatives didn't want to fight it: the conservatives in their tens of millions could have kept the war going if they thought it was worth it. But they avoided service in Vietnam too: the Bush brothers, Cheney, Bill O'Reilly, Limbaugh and millions more.
Nobody can win a tough fight by sending the most ignorant, desperate, legally compromised and socially inept to fight it for them. That is what the recruiters are resorting to now. 42 year olds. Paroled gang members. People who can't read English.
That isn't a way to win a war, just avoid losing it for a time.
Solidarity, hell.

Yo! Shooter
We're winning and regardless of what happens to us, you've already lost.
-
It depends on whose ox is being gored
We win, they lose
A "lose" for Republicans is a win for Americans. A "lose" for Bush and Cheney is a win for the world.
These people aren't on my side, they think I should be strung up for what I think. They're robbing me by making my money worthless. They want to spy on my phone line. They want to make me carry a little card to track me whereever I go, or else be thrown in jail.
Nothing this administration has done has been good for America. I want them to lose, they're playing against the home team.
