  • Four ambiguous words

    I was going to comment that in the slogan, "We win, they lose," at least the meaning of "We" is pretty clear. Then I thought a little more.

    When the strange-thinking people who support the war say "We," I think they're talking about more than just the United States or our military. They think "we" are fighting on behalf of the Forces of all that is Good. In their minds, they've let all the causes they support get wrapped up in this silly war. Some of them probably expect Jesus to come again, to lead our army, in what they expect will become the battle at Armageddon. Maybe that's why George W. Bush is in no hurry to finish the war -- maybe he wants to keep our army in place, waiting for some higher power to take command of it.
