A genuine political sea change?

Dead Enders

Granville:

Yes, we're experiencing a sea change, but what will finally change the minds of those 28% to 30% of the citizenry that still insist to pollsters that Bush & Co. are doing a good job?

Nothing will change them. Oh, well, wear them down a little, maybe. Nixon had 22-23% approval when he resigned. This represents the Right Wing Authoritarian hard core. They simply won't abandon their leaders. But they're a small minority as long as they're not allowed to be the building block for a larger infrastructure.

In short, we don't need Bush's numbers to go any lower. We need to tie every other Republican in the country to his coat-tails, something they have already done themselves already numerous times in the past.

You are absolutely right about the need for and possibility of a political realignment. I looked into this prior to the mid-term elections, and I discovered that the unambiguous realigning elections are accompanied by two consecutive House wave elections. So, with the continued disgust/horror with the GOP, and growing support for Pelosi and Reid, the signs are good that we could pull it off.

I, too, think that Edwards looks like the best bet to help pull this off. Clinton/Obama corporate centrism strikes me as little more than Reaganism with a human face.

Maybe things will change

...or maybe things will get worse.

Right now the war strategy is to punt the ball (via the 'surge') until 2008, when Bush hopes the next president will be saddled with the blame for the coming defeat or retreat in Iraq.

However, this ball might only tumble as far as the end of summer. Word is that Senate Republicans want to see results from the surge by Labor Day. And so far there are no signs that anything is improving in Iraq. So what then?

Well, there's always mass hysteria and buffalo stampeding. One way to keep the war going for at least one more year would be to attempt a massive volunteer recruitment effort. If young Republicans and conservatives can be induced to volunteer for the military in large enough numbers, then Congress would not be in any position to cut off funding for the war.

All the rhetoric for such a "Save the War" drive is already in place. Since we're supposedly fighting a war of existence against the Islamofacists who want to come here to kill us all and/or convert us to Islam, of course our brave young men and women on the right will want to step up to the plate and do their duty. Isn't taking personal responsibility what conservatism is all about?

After all, serving in Iraq is far safer than facing down a classroom killer, and all our brave conservatives on the Internet have recently asserted their complete willingness to stand up to any and all classroom killers, no matter what their personal chances of survival in such a situation might be. That is, as long as they are properly armed, of course.

So of course they'll be willing to volunteer in Iraq, where they'll be mightly armed with guns, tanks and armor. "Mr. President," they'll stand up salute, "Just tell us where to go." If they don't step up and volunteer, America will lose, and the Islamofacists and Democrats will have won. More importantly, this president will lose--and if this president loses, then all those soldiers will have died in vain. Surely war supporters can't allow that to happen, can they?

If the war in Iraq is really so vital to our national survival, then war supporters can have no other option except to try something like this. Of course, it's possible they may decide it wasn't so vital after all. In that case, we might just laugh them out of existence. So they might as well volunteer.

William Timberman is half lying, again.

If I knew a DCcop or two, I'd have them knock you out with a white cue tip (hint). Clean your beeswax out of each ear once a year.

I was too principle to (a pile of compost) turn on a computer. A 'tiny bit' over a year ago, I 'hit' (not with a ash ball bat) Chris 'cuss' Floyd's site and what a stumble into a winter creek. Then to come here for a bowl of chilly con carny! I remember thinking William has no guile, and talks with a funny tennis-sea and blend of a dry air from Arizona. It began to seem warm. A "wee bit" of a people's hillbilly-ish lisp, also. I read you letters thinkers for long (rusty drill) while, and wondered who are the hairy ears and nose bachelors? Who are those that lay in the barley grass and look up the single ladies skirt? William's friends.

I sat in the Grandstands for free at 'untold territory' and when it seemed like a bloody bull fight in Madrid, I left. I'm still delinquent and behind on the Salon rent. There is a saloon near here who gives away Rolling Rock or dark Yingling (pony pee) in a green bottle for $1.50. home cook meals on bachelor's nights.

I had self-doubt, and no-doubt, that the politicians were nuts and protective of only a big yucky ego. I had to learn the bugger-blog yin/yang jingle calico's/politico's jingo. I never wish to lay dead down and remain (not Romanian salad) supine, or intentionally hurt a lady. A wish we'd go back to a matriarchal Pax America Queen'kingdom. Anything is good, better, and best believe me...other's too..better than BushCo's 'thief-drones'...

....I never thought we see a Wooster era come (and I believe it's to go quickly too) down the pike (no eat northern pike fish).

The neocons are masters of hate and contempt. A hatred of self, and it's a self-loath, imho, that leaps from their wretched ugly, vain, and impoverished soul. At a lark (not a lark in site yet, larks and darling starlings return about May 1st?), I started muttering at squeaky tennis-sea's E.B's site. He sent me Juan Cole and then to this "crappy" (not sea crappie's) dark barroom joint. It takes 20-minutes for eyes pupils to adjust to the darkness in the bar-brawl...dance-hall. It's easy to bump and fall into a grand piano.

It's a place to slowly accumulate the best virtues I've sensed anywhere. The tiniest little snub should NOT let one fester in too long of a discouragement. William would rather have some gal rip (no R.I.P) his stinky shirt of his hairy gorilla back, but, and he's a nice enough of a gentleman to give it to her if she slipped on green boss at the skinny dip hole in the wintertime. I sensed I needed to brush up on common sense...

...On the basis of common sense, and which we best humbly admit, we need some more Common Sense. It's fleeting essence, or commodity that needs to be stored in cans...for certain...in these ding--dong, neocon's, former "experts" and plain to see, just big drips.

A grave digger is more noble, a plumber, a night-soil com-poster, etc., and will accomplish a greater reward in the "next life" (?) if they are 1% guessing a god will call them to the accounting firm of "Damian-duh-Cheetos." What trouble.

Anyway Willy, women or men, married or free, garbage collector or gold gathers...I still doubt one can find a honest lawyer.

I'd invest in a golden hen. She won't give a kill look that will set the barley bails on fire. I do believe it's okay to say love and sit and watch grass grow green at Greenwood's site for adjusting sore eye pupils.
