Why would the PRC, a nuclear armed nation, need an international consortium to do this? They have immense productive capacity and thousands of highly trained physicists, which is all you need to build a decent bomb. They could just slap a few nukes on a container ship and send them on their way. For that matter, Russia is also a nuclear power and they have a long history of selling military hardware. If they wanted to do something like this (which I am not implying they would), I can't imagine it being that difficult. Of course, you would probably want to keep the shipments secret, but that's still easier than an international conspiracy.

The SANE folks (reminds me of "Honest Al's Used Cars" for some reason) had an entertaining post on the vicious Left* wing blogger Glenn Greenwald, who calls himself a "civil rights" lawyer just like all those ACLU-types, trying to make their dhimmicratimexifemigay agenda seem reasonable.

Anyone interested in theology and the history of Christian thought will find SANE's theology sections amusing; they've apparently managed to absorb some neoplatonic/Thomist thinking from the classics to crticize modernism with, but they fall flat when trying to situate their fundie beliefs in the wider world the classical authors describe. (hrm, not actually that unlike the theological/magical/anti-modern beliefs of another notorious political movement...)

Here's a hint, guys: "allah" means "the ONE." It is the same God as Christ's; although you are welcome to believe the Muslims got everything wrong about that god, it's the same god. The medieval Christian theologians you admire so much (I do too, actually) got their Greek metaphysical ideas THROUGH the Arabs. If the Arabs didn't share the basic fundamental beliefs, this dialogue would have been impossible, yet it is a matter of historical record.

So China wants the US to be held hostage by nuclear-armed terrorists? That seems like a curious business strategy for a country that has loaned us trillions of dollars and had a $232 billion trade surplus with the United States in 2006 alone.

In response to a question as to why so many of the intelligence agencies around the world thought that Saddam had WMD.

Paraphrase: "because they were all listening to our intelligence agencies."

The argument is that "everyone" thought that Iraq had WMD. And, to pay homage to Glenn: everyone that was "serious" at the time all thought Iraq had WMD.

Was it lies or incompetence that got us where we are? I DON'T FUCKING CARE!!!!!!!!!.

We have destroyed more than just Iraq in this fools errand. Pouring more blood and treasure down the rat hole that we dug is not a solution. The war is not lost, that assumes it happened recently. It was lost the moment we set foot there (more than four years ago) without definable goals and enough troops. And of course, don't forget that we failed to secure the conventional explosives that we did find.

Those that argued that Iraq had or did not have WMD are irrelevant.

What is relevant is ending this gigantic clusterfuck as quickly as possible while trying not to spark a theater-wide conflagration.
