Right-wing blogs discover massive conspiracy to hide WMDs in Iraq

The embrace by leading neoconservatives and other war supporters of the most bizarre and deranged conspiracy theories speaks volumes about their credibility and judgment.

Jaw-Dropping

I've cut this down for space reasons, but tried to keep the parts that seem to reflect the sensibilities of the SANE mind.

Subject: "law abiding" Muslims

Comments:

........

A Christian or Jew who appears to you to be a good law abiding citizen deserves the presumption of innocence.

However, unless the Muslim has ceased to be a Muslim and instead has become a self-described infidel, that is, if he still "believes" in the sanctity of the Quran and the authority of historical, traditional and authoritative Islamic law, the presumption should be he is our enemy.

Even if he claims to be a "reformed" or "moderate" believing Muslim, he is a potential enemy because he still believes in the sanctity of the Quran. And, what that usually means is that while he too wants a world Caliphate in the here and now (as opposed to an eschatological messianic event brought down to earth from heaven), he is prepared to engage in a "democratic Jihad" at the very least. But that means he does not give his allegiance and fidelity to America, its national existence, its people and its constitution in the first instance, or indeed in any real instance.

For example, how does the freshman Muslim Congressman swear his allegiance to the Constitution in fact when he does so on a book that all believing and faithful Muslims agree stands for the proposition that the goal in this world, the here and now, the Kingdom on Earth, should be a one world Caliphate ordered by Sharia.

Now, his duplicitous and disingenuous answer will be that the two are not incompatible. That the Constitution provides for the free and non-violent exchange of ideas and Islam also does (i.e., the standard Islam as the noble religion of peace). But that is neither true historically nor per Islamic law.....

It would appear then that the real question is why America would allow any Muslim as a Muslim to reside or visit the US. Is the risk of sleeper cells and terror plots and the like, which we are uncovering only in part every week, worth the risk?

On what basis should America be a home or haven to Muslims? Does Freedom of Speech and Association permit someone to live here and preach our destruction? Criticizing American culture and decadence is one thing; but avowing belief and faith in a book and in a murderous pseudo-prophet which calls for our conversion and submission to Shari'a (or even our death) in lieu of our constitutional republic seems to me to be beyond the pale.

Is This Like The Giant Underground Air Bases From Gulf War 1?

Am I the only one who remembers how even the New York Times (and you can imagine wingnut radio extremifying this claim) had cover page speculation way, way, way back in 1990, on how Saddam didn't just have some planes hidden & covered with sand in the desert, buy *may have had* huge underground airbases, and they wuz gonna all you know like zoom out like that movie and so we had to be real keerful of that dangerous wily Saddam?

When do the Martians become involved?

(a) John Negroponte is persecuting various groups which are trying to bring the WMD conspiracy to light because (b) Negroponte is part of what they call the "Red Team" in the U.S. government, which is exceedingly loyal to China, which is crucial given that (c) the stolen-WMD-plot involved the subsequent transfer of "Saddam's WMD technology to Syria and Iran" and that all happened (d) "because the Chinese Army created an international consortium of rogue states to develop the Islamic Bomb" (and Negorponte, it implies, is concealing that by persecuting these groups because he is an agent of China).

Priceless!! It's been a while since I've read anything that made me laugh out loud--for as long as I did--as much as Glenn's takedown of these people.

These neoconservatives are absolutely insane. Not only is it horrifying to think that there are actual people who give credence to their ravings, but that criminally overpaid pundits in the mainstream media obediently follow along is absolutely ridiculous.

Gaubatzshit!

Gaubatz is from Denton, Texas.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denton,_Texas

Perhaps he just wants to get on the list of notable Denton residents with Norah Jones, Peter Weller, (Robocop) and Phyllis George.

I think we should investigate when they first flouridated the water down in Denton, Texas. I'll bet it was around the the time Dave was born. The commie plot to take over the country by flouridating our water is finally coming to fruition.

General Jack D. Ripper: Do you realize that in addition to fluoridating water, why, there are studies underway to fluoridate salt, flour, fruit juices, soup, sugar, milk, ice cream? Ice cream, Mandrake? Children's ice cream!...You know when fluoridation began?...1946. 1946, Mandrake. How does that coincide with your post-war Commie conspiracy, huh? It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual, and certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core Commie works. I first became aware of it, Mandrake, during the physical act of love...Yes, a profound sense of fatigue, a feeling of emptiness followed. Luckily I-I was able to interpret these feelings correctly. Loss of essence. I can assure you it has not recurred, Mandrake. Women, er, women sense my power, and they seek the life essence. I do not avoid women, Mandrake...but I do deny them my essence.

Do you think water flouridation conspiracies disappeared into the ether after Dr. Strangelove hit the theaters? No, they didn't. The Ada Parker Newsletter (Pro-Apartheid) from 1996. Scroll down to Flouridation Myths:

I am starting to get a little upset with Dr. Thomas Szasz. He may have meant well but some of these folks need medication and a structured and controlled environment. They can be a danger to themselves and others.

Let's Get Over It?

Chase Said:

Look, despite the millions of victims and survivors (and surviving perpetrators), there are still people who believe the Holocost never happened. So it's safe to assume there will always be people who believe virtually any proposition of historical fact, whether it be that Saddam had WMDs when (or just before) the US invaded or whether or not GW Bush (or the Israeli's) really blew up the World Trade Centers. Let's get over it. (The brilliance of conspiracy theories is that any evidence tending to disprove the theory is evidence of the conspiracy, lack of evidence is evidence of the conspiracy, so the theory is like an undead zombie, impossible to kill.)

No thanks for the history lesson and the lecture. This is current. There is little we can do now about what happened 50/60 years ago. There is much we can do about what might happen today, tomorrow and what has happened in the recent past.

Attending to the propaganda - no matter how insane that propaganda is - that scores of blogs, some of them high traffick blogs, and no doubt soon, the MSM, or at least the Rush Limbaughs of the airwaves, will be repeating again and again in order to move their agenda along, that has to be dealt with. They have had a great deal of influence thus far. We are, after all, in Iraq, are we not? So just saying, "Let's get over it", as you did in your post? That will not cut it.
