My letter to Brian Ross at ABC news
Hi Brian,
As a reader of Glenn Greenwald's blog, I have been following with interest his reporting on the history of coverage of the alleged Iraq/anthrax connection. Yesterday, Bruce Schneider's response was posted in which he continues to state that, while the White House denied the presence of the additive you spoke about, four high-ranking White House officials had been the source of this disinformation.
As an investigative reporter, I don't need to tell you that the story itself is the story here. Who are these four senior Administration officials and what was their motive for lying to you? It has been several years, but this story has only become more important as this country continues to pour more and more blood and treasure into a war that was sold to the American people by disinformation and spin.
The fact that this is an obvious attempt to lie to and misinform the American people eliminates any possible ethical reason you may have to reveal their names. They dealt dishonestly with you, feeding you falsehoods, and your ethical responsibility is now to expose them, for the good of your country.
I look forward to the upcoming expose containing the names of the individuals who leaked this disinformation to you, and the manner in which it occurred.
