This was the handy work of the neocons/Israel Lobby
The neocons and their buddies in the Israel Lobby did an amazing job of manipulating the media using made-up stories. They knew that while these stories could be denied later, the damage would have already been done. They also knew that if they had enough of these stories flooding the airwaves all the time, they could create a public perception about Iraq that would make the American people support the war.
This was one of the greatest public opinion manufacturing exercises in human history!
