  • Better examples of right wing hate?

Hmmm... let’s see... Timothy McVeigh and Eric Rudolph came to mind pretty quickly. Give me a minute, I'm sure the righties have more "men of action" than that.

  • Right wing strategy

One of the most remarkable things about the rise of the conservative media is the success of the strategy of attacking strength, despite the obvious, staggering hypocrisy of such attacks. John Kerry is a war hero, so right-wingers attack him by calling him a coward, ignoring the contrast between Kerry's career and Bush's (or Cheney's or Wolfowitz', or . . .) Most recently, Al Gore got attacked for not caring enough about the environment in his electrical usage. This is amazing when the comparison is made between his work and the planet-destroying oil obsessions of Bush and Cheney, et al.

Malkin and Kurtz' attack is on this same pattern, I believe, and the strength that they are trying to neutralize is precisely the fact that a core value of liberalism is reasoned and civil discourse. Obviously liberals blow it sometimes, but as a matter of principle that is our commitment. That's what the possibility of an open, liberal society requires. Straussian neoconservatism, by contrast (which has taken over the conservative movement in this country), has no principled commitment to civil discourse. Quite the reverse. As the Bush White House so graphically illustrates, neoconservatives are happy with the idea that real decisions are made behind closed doors and then sold to the public, of whom nothing is required but silence, loyalty, and continuing support for war.

The great strength of the liberal dream of an open society is civil, public discourse. The right wing strategy for neutralizing that liberal value is the same strategy they used against Kerry and Gore. The venues where civil public discourse is taking place must be attacked, belittled, lied about and made to look like they are accomplishing the opposite of what they are in fact achieving.

The ratcheting up of the right wings complaints proves to me what I have long, quietly dared to hope was true--the internet is the best thing to happen to the hope of the open society since the invention of the printing press.

  • Gore/Bush

Most recently, Al Gore got attacked for not caring enough about the environment in his electrical usage. This is amazing when the comparison is made between his work and the planet-destroying oil obsessions of Bush and Cheney

BUSH'S CRAWFORD RANCH MORE ECO-FRIENDLY THAN GORE'S HOME?

Ran across the screen during one of Hannity's hit pieces on Hannity and Colmes.

Hannity says Gore's carbon off-sets are absolute nonsense. Hannity supported Bush's industrial pollution off-set plan.

Hannity says Al Gore had a bodyguard hired to keep him out of conflict in 'Nam, thus denigrating his service. Bush, however, served bravely in the Texas Air National Guard, and anyone who tries to say otherwise is a vicious partisan monster.

  • Kurtz's gurus love Dick Cheney.

It's not true the 'left' (hate labels) hates. It's the manner of how the Whitehouse flock acts and conducts itselk. They are like dumb geese.

It's what childish antics brats do, pop ditty, smart-alec's who keep condoning robbing and using Fox etc. to throw forth such 'pop ditty' propoganda. No one should wish those bad-creep-bird's shot dead!

It's said, "A lifetime is short, a new one can't be bought." They outta' understand that before it's too late. (Read Symour Hersh's art. in "The New Yorker)

Some people pile much misery/suffering while they lie to self, rob, and condone the killing of our human-fellows/sisters. The misery is apparent everywhere. Death would alleviate the anguish and pain which is so visible. A just punishment would be to have to shave and look in the mirrow to brush and floss their teeth when the get up each morn.

Plans in our life change all the time. I good gurue speaks of change/impermanence. Change!

I watch flocks of 'V' formation geese fly all day on the way back to Canada. I feel like I came down with the 'bird-avain-flu? Plans change. Nothing is ever for certain. The daily reads are painful, but it's the good sort of blogoshere awarness that helps our spirit 'soar' above the squable.

The letters too, can't compare (oranges/apples) to what the 'right' MSM 'scribes' spew. To me, that's the sneering hatred that sure does makes a world toxic. You'd think they would be honest to reflect what geese do? The Whitehouse are big-bad-birds. Why enable this? It's sheer nasty. If the 'residents in the nations home did not come to DC, flopping down on the Oval Sofa's they'd be handing out 'smile-face' stickers to incomming 14th and K-street shoppers down the avenue from Capital Hill.?

Well, I was about to say, 'by the way,' the GG reads/comments are always fruitful. Stimulation. entertainment, thought-provoking, and not in any way the same-same vitri-aholic 'stuff' dumped into our society. The nation is in critical condition, already, 'by the way,' and so to speak.

So, the Salon must not allow the flapping of hands and wings of longstanding ovations, go to your head. You are already big Stars? When the caravan goes via Afgan towns, the dogs and fox's bark. When men where boys, everything was right. When the bird's 'right' wing gets broken, they may be awoken! Hope. Well, who in their right mind would find fault with this GG blog, written with a obvious kind concern for all...And commenter, generally, rt-wing's are the exception. I sense a deep affection for the nation.

O, who in the Wall-mart parking lot was it that said to 'us,' "Love is all and love is everyone? Right. Wisdom to...so, don't go grandioso. okay. 'Your welcome' in my home anytime, too. We can watch geese flocks. Whatever. Or, say any nonsensical thing that pops from the air into our head. O, rip and tear this long love letter up. My computer keeps getting a white, Bold Print, Blue Background..."MEMORY DUMP. Then it 'shuts down?' So, apologies for all the comma's and typo's.

  • the well runs deep

Yesterday Neil Boortz was reading the comments from HuffingtonPost, alarmed by the disturbing fantasy of seeing the Vice President dead. Boortz then said, in reference to either one particular commenter or the "artist" who did the painting with a knife through Bush's head (I wasn't paying close enough attention until the part I'm about to quote), that he hopes the Secret Service finds him and questions him ... "Jack Bauer style."

A few minutes later he took a caller. It went like this (paraphrased)

Caller: Hey, Neil glad to hear you loved my shirt!

    Boortz: Uh, what shirt?

Caller: A while ago, you said at the book signing you loved the shirt that said "Rope. Tree. Politician ... some assembly required." That was me.

Boortz: Oh, yeah. Er .... we should probably say that you know ... that's just the spirit of fun

Caller: Yeah, right. Just saying everyone is frustrated with politicians.

Seriously. Could someone have written better parody than that? But it actually happened.
