Why is Brit Hume treated like a real journalist and news anchor?

Quoting, in Malkin's Case, is the Same Thing As Saying It Herself

Malkin only uses quotes that support her batshit world view.

What is a "real journalist" these days anyway?

Watch a couple of segments of Hume's "Grapevine" on SR and you notice a distinct penchant for stories that paint Dems in a bad light at best, like total boobs at worst.

Hume lost me a while ago. Shep Smith and Jim Anglemier are the closest thing that place has to "real journalists."

FNC hired a swimwear model to anchor the news last week.

Don't blame Brit - he's not the one saying what he does now is OK. It's the bosses that let it go.

a real journalist

let pbs and their latest doc explain and define this. it moves in one direction - so predictable. a lot of that lately, not just with fox and friends.

Real journalists eat kreef

Why was Dan Rather treated as a "Real News Journalist"? Fox is no worse than the New York Times, both are extremely biased rags. And so aren't you a biased rag. No analysis, all mindless lefty rhetoric.

Perception equals reality

Glenn,

The democratic party is perceived to be weak on issues of National Security. This is a fact, not fiction. That's why Kerry lost the presidency, because of his perceived weakness on National Security issues. The fact that candidate Kerry, was attacked by the swift boat veterans for truth, and didn't fight back, cost him that election. The democrats in congress should have never fought against the push to invade Iraq. However, they didn't, out of fear that they would be branded weak on National Security Issues. It is my opinion, that if they had, Kerry would be the president today.

A suggestion for Salon's editors

Salon already puts a star next to letters that the editors feel make a particularly good point, or are noteworthy in some way.

I wonder if the editors can go a step further, and put a different symbol next to letters that make assertions and statements without ever offering any sort of proof or support for their claims. And also next to letters arguing points that obviously show that the letter writer did not read the article being written about. The letter from Kevin Murray is a n excellent example--a few strong statements that are wholly unsupported by any facts.

What usually transpires next is, other letter writers will see it and (1) ask for proof, which ultimately will be ignored, or (2) the "proof" turns into a change of subject, which leads to a diverted argument that goes way off point. I'm thinking if these types of letters could be identified, those of us in a time crunch could sift through the legitimate letters more quickly, and could spend out time arguing points that are actually relevant.

Maybe the symbol could be a Elephant bending over with gibberish type flowing out of it's ass?

Give me a minute and I'll think of a symbol for those who persist in straw man arguments....

Tightass

Pullo- is that a latin-rooted word for chicken? So, Tius Pullo would be "Chicken With Clenched Sphincter". How terribly apropos. Love and kisses to you and Scooter.

If It's Brit, It Must Be...Merde

Fuxxsnooze is merely the most eggregious example of how pathetic and profit driven the MSM has become. It's utterly useless, except as a measure of how well the intentional dumbing down of the Murkan public is coming along. The public schools have been in a death spiral for twenty years, minimum, and the race to the bottom which the republikans and Mall Wart occupy has accelerated apace. Brit the Twit isn't much worse than Kutesy Katie Kouric, news cheerleader. Without internet access, PBS News Hour, the Daily Show and Colbert Report, NOW, Frontline, and Mr Mission Accomplished's press conferences for comic relief, there wouldn't be any American news sources at all. Bush and his thugs and toadies aren't the exception; they're literally and figuratively the rule. Only one thing can change it: popular uprising. Get off the couch, turn off the tube, get involved, contribute to progressive causes, and vote in every election, local, county, state, and national. Every one. That's how the Jeezuz Peeple, the Morass Majority, took over. They had a plan, and they persisted. It took them thirty-five or forty years to go from a joke to holding most of the power in this country. The tide can turn. It seems to have started; but these murderous thugs won't give up the reign, or the reins, without a struggle. Or, you could drink heavily and channel surf like AJ and Joe, and Titttie Pullet. There's still a choice. That may soon be gone, save our own personal involvement. Trite though it may be, it remains true: be the change you want to see. It could start with little things, like taking up a KY collection for Scooter. He's gonna need it. Love and kisses to all you fascist brutes out there, dreaming of bombing a moslem in the name of God.

it sucks, but i don't think it matters...

...because at this point i think everyone who watches faux news knows exactly what they're getting and is getting exactly what they want. i had never watched fox -- it was too painful -- until it came to new zealand (where i fled with my family after the 2004 election) a few months ago. now we watch it all the time and laugh. it's like watching the news channel from some parallel universe, or "1984." i guess it's not so funny if you're still in the u.s. and, okay, it's not always funny here either. but at this point you have to believe the only people still watching are the 30% who wouldn't turn on dubya if he raped their own mothers. and filmed it. and sent them the tape.

Thank you!

I've been apoplectic over this issue for years. Brit Hume is the damned Managing Editor of Faux News! And he is allowed on a regular basis to vent his hate of all things left of Gingrich until he spittles.

When Peter Jennings raised an eyebrow at the suspicious call of Florida for Bush after it was projected initially for Gore in 2000, the right wing were braying for his head on a platter. Brit Hume can call the Democrats traitors, Murtha senile and somehow this is fine, while Jennings facial tick was a firing offense. More evidence of that oh so "Liberal" media.
