what should a broder say?
hmmmm, how about our bruder broder saying from his perch on high:
BushCheney are effin liars and thieves and frauds and this war is an illegal and immoral crime which will prove ruinous to American interests for a generation.
And gee whiz beaver if all those guys/gals now saying Oh we knew! had said then what they say now wellll, maybe a few hundred thousand fewer useless deaths?

tulip wars
Such an interesting metaphor clown! After all, tulips were first gotten from our Moslem friends and were for a time the most expensive and sought after commodity in Europe.
Individuals and nations competed to control the trade. People went mad, went bankrupt for their tulipmania. Men died in the pursuit of them. Zounds familiar....
As to the icy outside i'm so glad that you have found a true use for that nippy keyboard. Perhaps a few more rocks in the martini shaker?

tip tap with a beaver clever
Careful how you swing that beaver tail. A good flap flap from flip-plop fliper/liebibber, winebibbing, baby-bib, overHall's are/is needed. asap!. The more crows we get to squak, the dogs too will begin to bark/yack. The squak tip tap dance...muy mucho...fun & loco. a cant canister beverage of mine is a gentle, but powerful brew drink that would go with that tip tap dance. That could turn into a pow dungeons new Pat-riot'act's street neo-guthrie theme song? watch were you swing the beaver clever. sing 'the three branchs' of Liberty Tree is getting gnawled at the base-girth by much many mice. Use a sharp fingernail. No carver knife's or more use's for peanut oil. hold up the beaver's britches. peace to Beaver & Mice.

What should Broder say ...
hmmmm, how about our bruder broder saying from his perch on high:
BushCheney are effin liars and thieves and frauds and this war is an illegal and immoral crime which will prove ruinous to American interests for a generation.
And gee whiz beaver if all those guys/gals now saying Oh we knew! had said then what they say now wellll, maybe a few hundred thousand fewer useless deaths?
And be treated how?
Like Scott Ritter?
Like Mohammed al-Baradei?
Like Hans Blix?
Like Kofi Annan?
Like Seymour Hersch?
Like Jimmy Carter?
Like Juan Cole?
Like Brent Snowcroft?
Like Paul O'Neil?
Like John Wilson and "Wilson's wife"?
Like Richard C. Clarke?
etc., etc, ad nauseam ad infinitum.
[In the old format, I would have provided links to how these individuals had their profession qualifications, morals, credibility, and anything else the Bushites thought would make them look bad, attacked; in this format, you'll have to google it for yourself.]
If you think one more voice would have been the straw that broke the neocon's back, then you weren't really paying attention to what was going on.

or, in other words...Bring Troops Home.
Or, I'm sad to say, 'those we mouth we support,' will see the literal-bellies blown to shreds. Did you ever see red meatball spaghetti' belly guts in war-Fair's?
You lose a appetite for war, very quickly. Ask those who have been mentally shattered and can't 'shut-off' the dev-war rePlay. Ask why some scar-legged clowns never enter leg-beatiful Mr. America contest? No stop button. stop trumping up and supporting this killing war. simple. legal? I thought murder was wrong? Thou shalt love hil-billy buddha beely neighbors too? Apologize. Don't do it/war anymore. Don't whine or wine & dine at the blood-Tables-plates.
Stop playing taps at funerals. No tip toe and cow-tow-tip & shy away before the truth.

Louie Armstrong can be firdusi?
I think it's Happy New Year. It's the pig year. I think I'll listen to Louie. "Louie?" 'It's time for some 'little bo-peep from congree's gavel & horn. Louie would say, bring the troops home. Let's demand the youth be received back home with open Arms. Safe, and out of harms way.

paying attention
who said anything about only one more voice Frankly?
nor did i suggest that his lone voice could have been crucial.
are you silly enough to suggest that no number of contra voices would have been effective? i didn't think so.
i will say that, despite his knowledge and judgement, he made no real attempt to forestall the looming tragedy and for him to now adopt an attitude as smug as your own only adds to the damage.

Glenn...
is just trying to start a feud with Btoder so he can get his name in the big boy newspaper.
So you pulled some articles where he doesn't call Bush a chimp or murderer or dictator or Hitler? There are plety of pundits who take that tone of message. He even mentions Dowd so it's not like the poor uninformed readers couldn't find another opinion.
I'll go pull some of your past writings and show how you have "propped up" our enemies in Iraq and other places by bashing your President.
I have a feeling you'll be just as petulent and whiny. You are in your normal writings anyway.

joe "mccarthy"
here we go glenn! the gaffney tactic via broder joe. by opposing Bush idiocies you are supporting the terrorists! you GG are doing what Osama can't, guaranteeing our enemies' victory! you traitorous scribbler!
the US is soooo weak and helpless that yes, GG is able, with only his SALON column, to wreak havok on the BushCheney Newer Wayer Forwarder in Iraq.
and now joe please tell us what you think the appropriate remedies to GG's super powered dissent should be?
oh i know, you read this Lincoln quote...

kovie
Everything in my post was factual. You, on the other hand, were smearing an individual in a manner to make Bill Frist proud. Remember Bill Frist, who diagnosed a woman in permanent coma directly from the Senate floor? You've done him one better. You've diagnosed childhood psychological trauma in an individual you've never met, and you've done it even without the benefit of video feed. At least Frist had that.
So who is being unreasonable here, kovie? Those diagnosing Broder as emotionally damaged, or a neoconservative (absolutely, totally, absurd), or other unfair and unreasonable comments made here in this pixellated lynching? Are these claims warranted, and reasonable?
A primary distinction between the political left and right in this country is the ability to retain reasoned arguments, and an accurate perception of reality. If you disagree with Broder's views, then by all means, let's pull out a quote, or passage, and have at it. But do not, in your zeal to combat the political enemy, lose sight of what separates us from them. Destroy positions and arguments by all means, but leave the character assassination, smear, and all the other slimy bullshit to the other side.
