It's All About Land Theft

Back in 1947, Jews only owned 7% of the land of Palestine.

Since then it's just been land theft after land theft after land theft.

Theft of land is basically all Israel is about, and land thieves is all that Israelis will ever be…

Unfortunately sooner or later there will be a terrible reckoning when the thieves (or more likely their innocent descendants) get what's coming to them.

In the long term, Israel is as doomed as one of those Crusader Kingdoms from the middle ages.

The Two-State Solution is Already Dead

It is time to dismantle the Israeli apartheid regime and give Palestinians equal rights to Jews.

Why do you liberals hate Israel so much?

It's sickening that you people prefer to support the Palestineans over the Isaelis. The Palestineans, you know, those people that were celebrating in the streets and burning American flags on 9/11.

It's amazing how you liberals cherry-pick your issues and impose your double standards. Speak out against gay marriage, affirmative action, or illegal aliens, and you immediately label that person an evil bigot, meanwhile over here you're throwing the Jews to the wolves.

Bob, why do you accept Zionist programming?

Bob, was it not telling that the video shown (over and over) of "Palestinians celebrating 9/11" is etched in your mind rather than the fact that five Mossad agents were witnessed videotaping the WTC collapse and high-fiving one another? Google it. The NJ Bergen Record had the original story. What was on their videotape, Bob? The first impact?

Does even one person think that Israel ever intended anything but the elimination of Palestinians?

Even one soul? Even little children who believe in fairy tales know that Israel never had any inclination to do a thing other than kill or drive away every last Palestinian. Why engage in this stupid conversation?

Illegal settlements, Israeli settlers destroying Palestinian olive groves, the genocidal "Cast Lead" operations in Gaza... You cannot bury your head deeply enough in the sand to ignore the picture.

Here's a map that will help you overcome your programming:

BobTheCarpenter

Why do you hate everything rational? Is it because you cannot understand the rational? Not surprising.

It's funny...

How the Jew-haters on this board post under fake, whitebread sounding names like "Gordon Wagner" so we are supposed to think that actual, rational, non-retarded Americans feel that way. If you're going to post hate speech, you should at least have the balls to do it under your own name, Mr. Al-whatever...

WELL DUH! When did Juan Cole wake up and smell the coffee?

The Palestinians simply do not exist in Israel's world view except as targets and victims.

It's called you win the war.

Not the Israelis fault they kicked the Arab's asses outnumbered 10 to 1. You win against those odds, you get some spoils. Kind of like winning a jackpot in Vegas.

If Liberals had their way, we'd surrenedered to Hitler after we took over Berlin, Hirohito after dropping the bomb, and Mussolini after we stromed Sicily, if we applied logic they have with Israel.

I frankly long for the days

when we were satisfied with waging our religious war on Islam via Israeli proxy. If there's one thing the neoconservatives can be proud of it's how successful they were in thoroughly indoctrinating millions of Americans in the dogma of unflagging, unthinking support of the Israeli state and all its actions, even when those actions are in direct conflict with American goals as stated by both Bush administrations.

I guess when it comes to supporting unbridled Israeli expansion into Palestinian holdings even the Bushies weren't righteous enough, eh guys?

The really hilarious thing is if Bob and Sonny were to move to Israel they'd find themselves immediately marginalized as the extremist kooks they are even within the Israeli population. Actual Israelis, at least, are willing to cast a pragmatic eye on the actions of their government as it related to regional peace. Clearly vast swathes of this country are not.

Sonny Black, and others

Why are liberals "Jew-haters" by simply stating the truth? There are plenty pro-Zionist posters frequenting these boards that entirely agree that all Palestinians should be pushed out of Israel, Gaza and the West Bank and say exactly that. That is the goal of the right in Israel, just come to grips with it.

No two state solution means a single confederated state for two communities will come

The 2 state solution has always been about saving Zionism. The one state solution, Israel's choice and probably irreversibly so, used to be thought of as the radical preference of those who sought to destroy Israel.

But now Israel and its opponents agree on the single state solution, and so as the old joke goes, "we're just haggling over the details."

As a person committed to Jewish life in the Land of Israel, I thought a 2 state solution produced the best balance of interests, although the idea that parts of the West Bank would have to be "Jew free" was a bitter pill. Well THAT's not a worry anymore. Jews will live everywhere in the Land of Israel. Hooray! (I think that is a genuinely positive thing, so long as the freedom to settle principle is equally applied to others, say, Palestinians who want to return to Lod, etc. etc.)

However, (in the best case) because Israel has failed to create a 2 state solution, ultimately we will have a binational single state, probably with some communally guaranteed rights. The polity will still not be ruled on a majority rules basis, but rather on a confederated balance of power between two communities, each perhaps having internal democracy.

Of course Palestinians will become a majority in time and argue that with majority status comes political domination. The settlement however will never allow majority rule democracy to govern in Palestine and Israel. There will be two governments for two peoples for a long time to come. And that's in the best case scenario. In the worst case, we'll just keep on keepin' on, with my people doing the dirty work of keepin' their people down and things just staying miserable for all concerned.

But, yes, the success of the settlement movement assures that the comingling of the populations will not be undone. That means that the "solution" will not include "separation" in a physical sense, although it will almost surely include political separation, akin to 2 overlapping states, or 2 communities, each participating in different political systems, with those political systems linked at the top in a confederated arrangement.

Think of the relationship between Senatorial representation (each state has equal number of senators) and House of Representatives (population based). Imagine an upper house or executive level in which the states are equally represented, and a lower house in which there is proportional representation. State founders have been wrestling with these kinds of issues for centuries. Where there is a will there is a way.

Think of Lebanon.... We all know what a disaster it is, but Israel Palestine might do a better job of managing multiconfessional political community. While most of the precedents in the ME for this are not encouraging, Israelis and Palestinians have a shot at it.

So I don't know if Israel has shot itself in the foot or not. I'd have rather seen the Palestinians get their own antisemitic Jew free enclave in Gaza and the West Bank. But the settlers and their backers have assured that this will not be. OK, but the force of justice, the blazingly clear and justified demand that Palestinians have political justice is not going to be resisted or turned back.

I'm pretty sure it's not going to be exclusively one person one vote kind of justice, but a comingling of individual and communal rights.

I'm pretty sure that the IDF as an institution is going to be there to militarily protect the interests of Jews.

I suspect it will involve a confederation of ethnic democracies, sharing an overlapping political space.

I could have that wrong!
