Don't be surprised the media elite sided with Fox

Washington reporters know that Democrats complain, but Republicans get even

And don't be sad, either.

The mass migration away from the moronic "mainstream" media can continue apace. Good news.

Those dang Nixons

All the Sturm and Drang and nothing has changed. Fox is still the media arm of the republican party. Anderson Cooper has moved on to other things. Newspapers are losing money by the wheelbarrow load. And nobody cares.

Wimpy Media twits

Most folks in the media, generally, those that are in front of or behind the cameras are basically cowards. The media is NOT the fourth estate today - it's a propaganda machine for whom ever throws the best parties, provides the best hookers, and who pays the most for interviews or Roger Ailes for short.

Most media today is as useless as the paper or airtime they spew...Rep/ Grayson was right on the money calling the shill lobbyist a whore. That's what they do! As does most of the 'media' today...

You people, the media, are PIGS...just so you know...

Ken Rudin is a tiny

little weasel dick. He is the one who compared Hillary Clinton to Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction. The mainstream press do their masters' bidding and go after the Democrats and protect the Republicans. After all, if the press went after the Republicans they might have to get real jobs, do real work, hard work, for a living.

And Fox cartoon shows aren't just entertainment

On the Simpsons, they literally accused President Clinton when he was president of having sex with an animal. They said it twice to make sure viewers didn't think they meant merely an unattractive female. They drew a pink suit with black piping on Marge, and of course the mayor had a Bostonian accent. They had Marge call Clinton names. I quit watching after awhile, but it still astounds me remembering what they got away with. I thought the pink suit was the most tasteless thing they put in there, just because of what it represents to those of us who admired President Kennedy.

One also wonders how far the Repubicans would go for revenge. They're these twisted near illiterate unattractive bullies who have shut down sane political discourse. They weren't always that, but with the advent of Fox they just took a nose dive into attracting a constituency that can't process information rationally, oscillates between self-pity and self-aggrandization for its emotional range. How can a free society rid itself of those who use intimidation to silence opposition. Are we really free anymore?

Illusion is the reality

Once again, it's more about the rhetoric than about substance. The fact is Faux News and AM hate radio have figured out how to tap into the hearts and especially the minds of millions. But the rest of us keep thinking that straight facts & the truth shall set us & them free...not quite.

The progressives still haven't grasped it it seems (and I'm one of them). We also tend to alienate the masses by dismissing them as ignorant know-nothings, and they in turn marginalize us as elitists. The propaganda works well in the establishments' favor that way, while they continue dumbing everyone down.

Read Chris Hedges, the most brilliant writer I've read on this topic.

well-said!!

Good article - and that is certainly the true.. Dems complain, repubs get even..Look at the extent to which Bush took his 'justice' department - the examples are just too numerous to even list - Nixon tried to star at getting even, but his mistake was to lie about it - he should have just been ngoing after dems by lying on nationaly television..

The whold canard about the liberal press is absolutely ridiculous..The New York Times is a conservative org., and it is amazing how many people don't know that..It completely backed Bush with the Iraq war - for gods sake, it has given this ridiculous child, Ross Douthat, a platform..William Safire..Even Tom Friedman is fairly conservative - "suck on this' friedman..

thank god for jon stewart and steven colbert..

Fox News = Pravda West

We were outraged by the falshoods and idiocy of Pravda in the old USSR. Now we have our own Pravda and it is every bit is objective and truthful as the old one was.

Media Elite???

That's an oxymoron.

More like Media sycophantic bottom feeders.

I'm NOT surprised!

Main Stream Media = Infected Whorehouse

The reason these guys are so malicious towards democrats is that the latter don't have to pay for sex and they do

The revenge of the ugly, whoremongers. They hate anyone who doesn't have to pay someone who is doped out of her mind to allow invasion from ugly, disgusting troll-men. Look at the picture for this article and tell me if I'm wrong

The mainstream Media is an insiders' club

They treat politics like high school gossip and get on the bandwagon for whomever they perceive to be the coolest. How else can you explain that the same media elites who were so horrified by Clinton's dalliance still worship the ground that the much more promiscuous JFK walked on? They also appease bullies who mock them. After all, their image as the in crowd is what matters.

This treatment is not limited to only Democrats. Campaign reporters covering JFK joined with his staff in singing songs mocking Nixon, hardly professional behavior. No matter how much we oppose a politician this kind of "journalism" is bad for our democracy. Citizens depend on accurate, substantive information to make informed decisions, not entertaining gossip.

This is not necessarily

and don't be surprised

... don't be surprised if no one really cares. Most thinking people gave up on watching the "news" a long time ago.

NPR and The Daily Show are all I need. Haven't watched cable or network news for years.

Fox's defenders are equally bad

Put CNN and Fox in a bag, hit it with a stick and you won't have to worry about hitting the right one. Seriously, why watch any of them?

Thursday, October 29, 2009 06:57 AM

Good point about Ailes's enemies list.

Fox is notorious for going after its critics with pretty vicious gutter tactics.

Young Americans Turned Off By Fox

From Daily/KOS Research:

"Overall, 25% of respondents watch Fox News at least once a week. That number includes 23% of Democrats and 14% of Independents. The obvious partisan standout is Republicans with 52% watching at least once a week. Similarly, regional viewing is heavily weighted to the south with 39% of southerners tuning in to Fox News. The rest of the nation is far less attracted to the right-wing network who draws significantly fewer viewers from the west (23%), the midwest (21%), and the northeast (13%). Also notable is the dismal performance of Fox amongst young voters (18-29) and minorities, at least 80% of whom report that they never watch Fox News. In fact, more than 50% of all of the groups of viewers (party, region, ethnicity, age) never watch Fox News, except for Republicans (38%)."

Unfortunately the majority of the country is being held hostage by a minority that is pushing a Dark Ages platform that opposes universal health care, civil rights, tax fairness, and environmental protection. And it is doubly unfortunate that an overtly biased cable news network is artificially elevated in a manner that inflates its clout so that it can further distort the political landscape.
