My GOP: Too old, too white to win

A Republican looks at the numbers and sees disaster ahead, unless his party figures out how to be less -- caucasian

Thanks, Sherlock

Given the title alone, I'm going to go ahead and file this one under "Duh".

Oh, and the fact that Republicans are spiritual patsies, willfully ignorant, homophobic, xenophobic, bigoted racists might want to be a consideration whilst they are pondering their navels.

Divisiveness in America is the failure of assimilation.

What in “The UNITED States of America” is missing? Why have we become complicit in defining Socialism, divisive in our cultures and not assimilating to become “Americans”? BO has sold us BS.

The GOP is a shell needing to be filled. This can be with diversity not the left over old white men. Cement in its pure substance is not strong. The strength is in the mix. Our mix knows we have a lot of the same fears, loves, family’s issues and debts.

Politics encourages divisiveness for competing ideologies. We do not need the GOP party to identify us; we need to identify the party to fit our needs. It is up to us to breathe the life back into it. We need not be Democrats, Republicans, Liberals or Conservatives but Americans using the Republican Party as its platform. The goal of bringing back a sense of diverse community with a unified charter to develop jobs and community.

We could be the Cement Party "nice shoes"

GOP, too old, too white

What strikes me about this article is the emphasis on "brand" and "selling"..How can we sell ourselves to minorites? I think Republicans should first look at product, and realize that what they sell is a hard sell without lying, and hoping the voters are gullible.

Of course I also disagree w/ a mainstream media "love-fest" for Obama..maybe during the election, but not now. The corporate media is run by the same tired white men.

Now, there may be some good in core Republican principles. But the Republicans do not live or govern by their principles..their pants are down as they preach family values and their hand is in the till as they preach fiscal responsibility.

May I suggest that the new white is brown, that Social Justice should temper free market worship, and that voters should be treated w/ respect, rather than as fools.

Time To Face The Truth

Listen carefully - The Republican Party's demise has nothing to do with age or race. The following quotations sum it all up:

"The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness."

-- James Kenneth Galbraith

"Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people... it is true that most stupid people are conservative."

— John Stuart Mill

Republican like Powell?

"despite the unpopularity of President Bush, despite the difficulty of the same party winning a third consecutive national election, despite the charisma of Barack Obama (and the love shown to him by the mainstream media), despite the financial meltdown of September, despite any other factor anyone can cite"......Wright, Ayres, Obama's snooty wife and the fact that he is black...a factor pushing 97% of black voters his way..(content of character and all that) ....He barely took 52% of the vote. If your argument is valid he would have wholloped the republican candidate.

Nonsence....The republicans need a strong articulate leader. Bush was a wimp...like father like son? McCain was a hideous debater and that whole "my friends" thing was annoying as hell. As long as baffoons like Boxer are allowed to talk the black and hispanic vote will come slowly along.

Policy differences and LEAERSHIP will determine the outcome of elections....not color.

Who chooses the color of their SKIN?

Anyone that divides us by skin color it absurdly stuck in the 1950's.

It is so simple...

Give regular people like me, hard working, American dreamer, risk taker, opportunity hound...the unobstructed tools to succeed by his own blood, sweat, and tears...and you got my vote.

Skin color means nothing, Obama just proved that, so why should I dye my thinking another color.

You are an old stale elitest, republican.

I am the new, shiny, get out of my way Republican.

You need to leave MY PARTY, go hang with the old dead head elitist republicans like Colin, and Jonny Mac...

Why not start you own 3rd party, see if you can get those skin color votes from the libs/dems...

We don't need you, we don't want you...bye bye.

Desperation borne of entrenched dependency on racism…..

One of the main reasons the GOP will have a tough time figuring this out is that they have played this “Southern Strategy” hand too long and have been too arrogant to recognize the need for change.

As recently as October of the last election, there was still a reliance on the likelihood that racists, LYING racists at that, would somehow win the day.

Mr. Greener (yes this Mr. Greener) presented that interesting theory, again in Salon, even as the polls were indicating the eventual outcome. The basic gist of the article was that “undecided” and dishonest whites unwilling to be truthful about their unwillingness to vote for a black man would be the difference in the anonymity provided by the poll booth.

To be fair, there probably is some truth to the basic premise. Unfortunately, for the GOP, that demographic also is apparently shrinking.

The GOP wishes...

they, instead of the Democrats, had been the first to buy the majority vote with minority preferences/white discrimination and the corollary "white oppressor/black victims" stereotypes. Then Democrats, instead of Republicans, would be left with the REAL minority of equal opportunity advocates who think color differences are irrelevant.

Naturally, since Democrats have the bigot vote, the answer for the opposition's growth is to instill some integrity in Americans, so that the majority votes in accordance with the truth...that color differences REALLY ARE irrelevant. But with media propagandists, like Salon, preaching enough prejudice to lead a majority to believe the color similarity between modern whites and SOME historical slavers justifies white discrimination, that’s not likely.

Just look at all the fools posting here that swallowed the Democrat’s “rich, white historical oppressors” stereotype. But that’s a racist American for you...watch a white guy lose his house and family in a fire on CNN, watch a white woman living in a tent with her two kids on ABC, watch a white kid die of cancer on NBC, leaving behind impossible medical bills, next day applaud white discrimination as “justice served.” Americans are so stupid, they don’t even know they’re stupid.
