"You suck. More women are fighting against abortion than men. Abortion is NOT a man versus woman issue! Your angst is such a worthless cloak for your vast emotional vacuum."
Oh my god - do you realize how ridiculous you are? I'm pretty sure you don't.
Ah, the liberal left loves these frauds from the Ivy League. Still, she has a point about anti-abortion nutters. The polls are now showing that by 9% pro-life is finally being recognized as not extreme. The extremes on the Right and Left should be avoided. They do not give the populace real spiritual, scientific and ethical info to deal with these painful situations. Still, erring on the side of life on this issue is better than the partial birth nuts and the kill 'em even if it is 9 months! And remember, if one has had an abortion, grace and forgiveness is better than a stigma . It should never be used as birth control but even one error can be God forgiven and we should be gracious as well. The nutter groups on both sides should be absolutely avoided.
Like any other commodity, humans are subject to the economic laws of supply and demand.
The more people there are, the less each is worth in our society.
Under that harsh reality, what does it mean to be "pro-life," i.e., anti-abortion and anti-contraception?
As long as you are also pro choice. There is no dichotomy there. You have the choice yourself to never have an abortion. You have the choice to counsel others against abortion, or even offer alternatives such as adoption or education about how, when, and what kind of birth control to use.
But it is NOT alright to determine for others what choices they can and cannot make. It is NOT alright to be against teaching prevention as well as abstinence. That is not pro-life. That is pseudo-religious anti-choice bullshit. That is anti-abortion, not pro live. I think it's telling that the vast majority of the anti-abortion crowd fully supports the death penalty, the killing of civilians in Iraq, the willful ignorance and greed that allows 40,000 Americans to die every year from the flu so that we can bankrupt the nation by wrongly seeking avenge (by murder) the deaths of 3000 Americans.
@steeleI think not being part of a vampiristic, cannabilistic religious cult is a very healthy thing, don't you?

You are exactly right. That is why I can't stand Thomas L. Freidman. Neo-Liberalism and Globalization are just horrible.
What Randall Terry espouses is rape. Pure and simple. Rape has always been the ultimate weapon of war. Kill the children, rape the Sabine women. Even then women knew how to rid herself of the rapist's child.
Men like Randall Terry are bullies at the least. Men who want to force women to carry children they do not want are just the sort of men who suspect a really free woman would not be carrying their own line. Men like Randall Terry cling to the paranoid thought that the state is more trustworthy than their own mothers, sisters, daughters and wives.
This much is true, where women are able to choose which men's babies will be carried to term, men need to be real men and brothers. Real men have no fear they will find a woman to love them and have their children.

Please save the agony for someone else and prove how ridiculous I am.
The vast majority of conservative women are anti-abortion or pro-life, if you wish. This country has no shortage of conservative women who hold very strict views on sexuality and reproduction-related issues. Even socially-moderate women in some parts of the country are very uncomfortable with abortion (which includes the county I currently reside in).
The number of liberal men and socially-moderate men supporting abortion at some level (including myself) is significantly high enough to support my conclusion that the abortion battle is no longer a man versus woman issue.
Randall Terry´s daughter is, in fact, a fundamentalist Muslim by conversion. His son is openly gay.
Converting to the more stringent forms of Islam is, in my experience, something that kids of fundie Baptists frequently do. It´s where radical Muslims get most of their American converts.
I guess you have to have been taught, from childhood, to accept one kind of crazy in order to convert to the other kind. But the fact is these two creeds are much closer to each other than either of their adherents cares to think.
Please forgive me - I don't see the connection between religious cults that center on drinking blood (vampirism) and eating flesh (cannibalism), and "Freidman" [sic], "neo-liberalism," and "globalization."
But then, I'm relatively certain that you don't either. But hey, another chance to show off your one-trick pony of an intellect. Good rightist. Sit boy, sit.

With just a small effort dedicated to researching this topic you will find the crushing-male-tide concept as archaic and nebulous at best.
I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about telling someone to "grow a brain," or that they "suck" or that that they have a "vast emotional vacuum" just because they disagree with you about a topic you are discussing.
I don't have to prove how ridiculous you are - you do it with every post you write.

Hmmm... I'm ridiculous. And you infer I'm stupid and bereft of self-awareness.
I guess only mamalicious is allowed to be snarky, eh?

Why would you think I do not see the connection? Why would I post it if I did not?
"One-trick pony of an intellect." Well, at least I know what a metaphor is.
Try viewing Naomi Klein, reading William Greider, and try to understand why your clothing is so cheap at Wal Mart.
The true cannibals and vampires of this world sit at the head of Citibank, Aetna, the IMF, AIG, Monsanto, among others. They work in the Pentagon, in "think tanks," and in academia. They feed off the flesh of honest people and honest labor, and they drink the blood of hope and a wish for a better life, from billions of people around the world.
But one needs a spiritual perception to see this. The cannibals and vampires you speak of live in comic books and celluloid. The cannibals and vampires I speak of live among us, they are very real, and they are in control.
