It would not be at all surprising considering how quickly people have forgotten the havoc that Reagan and Reaganomics created with a tripling of the budget deficit, the savings and loan scandal, tax increases for the middle class with the alternative minimum income tax that targets any household making more than $80k, the Iran Contra debacle with the CIA trafficking in drugs and sell military equipment to the Iranians (not too surprising as the Reagan staff prior to the election made a deal to have the Iranian hostages held until after the elections and then magically release the day after), the support for repressive regimes in Chile and Argentina and Indonesia and Panama and the Philippines (Reagan never met a dictator he did not like), the gutting of the EPA and the FDA and the start of the media consolidation that takes us to the present time when 85% of the media is controlled by 5 corporations. Consider Fox News with its hiring the Republican Karl Rove flack to be a news commentator. It is like having CBS hiring Joseph Goebbels' son, Harlald to do a retrospective on Adolph Hitler.
"Events proved these concerns were, at least in part, justified. Fred Barnes, writing in the Weekly Standard in 2005, just about a year after Bush was reelected, cited six reasons they were, starting with the fact that Bush was not, in fact, a conventional conservative."
Yeah, so saith Freddie "born again" Barnes about Dubya "born again" Bush.
He mired the US in a wasted and incompetent occupation of Iraq.
He let Osama bin Laden get away. And was on record as not caring about it.
He made the United States officially stand for torture.
Through Karl Rove, he made hate an official part of public policy.
He took the world's almost complete support after the September 11, 2001 attacks, including Iran, and flushed it down the toilet with his "Axis of Evil" speech.
It is truly an example of the extent to which Republicans "create their own reality" when the Wingnut declares that George W. Bush was such a great president and did not break anything.
As their dumb ass Reagan said, there you go again. This guy and his Rethugs lost, big time! And yet they just keep on their stupid rant.
If they and this guy are so correct why is the nation suffering under another GOP caused economic disaster? And why is our nation killing Iraqis for their oil instead of buying it at fair market value. WWII fascism has once again, reared it's ugly head.
Boosh has been unfairly criticized because he has not been criticized and damned anywhere near enough.
From Reagan on, every time we have a GOP prez we have multiple prezs. Under St. Reagan America also had, for prez, Jerry Falwell and Pope John Paul II(my religion). That's just far too many prezs at one time. And that system still stands under the prez of GWB.
There are so many ways to fire back at this Rethug idiot that I can't decide where to begin. I've written posts as long as fifteen thousand words on the subject of Boosh and his cohorts, the Cons, Neocons and the Theocons.
These people are all a proven disaster to America and the entire world. And, should these people( Sarah Palin, Jeb Bush, Newt Gingrich) regain power in 2012 the world will know ever more disastrous wars and other actions that the entire planet and the Family of Man may, well, suffer catastrophes from which there are no recovery. Then the Armageddon/End Times they so desperately desire will really come to pass; and totally by their doings.
God is NOT the problem, man made religion is the real problem. Big Religion and Big Business greed and lust for ever more political power are the real problem. God didn't cause these GOP disasters, the GOP Cons, Neocons and Theocons caused these disasters.
Of course GWB and his cohorts broke America and they are not done, yet!!! We can expect more trashing and thrashing of the American people if the evil GOP cabal ever returns to power.
Stupid me, I even voted for some of these corrupt people, specifically, DeWine and Voinovich. They're all robotic Stepford Wives who never think for themselves and blindly adhere to Reagans GOP 11th commandment. Dumb me. Never again. We got rid of DeWine, Voinvoich is next. Out he goes, with the rest of the day old garbage.
And all the while I thought only Satan himself could do such evil things!!! Little did I know that the Cons, the Neocons and the Theocons were helping with his doings. Evil is evil, whether it is perpetrated by Big Religion or Big Business.
Is my religion about to destroy Gods creation, the Family of Man? I'd say yes, as we are on the verge of their, the GOPs, man made abyss.
from the comparison with LBJ & Tonkin, to "faulty" intelligence (no mention of the manufactured stuff!), Wignut demonstrates just how rightwingers are blind to the problems that the Bush administration created.
As for the mortgage mess and the Bush's administration's actions: raising the amount that Fannie & Freddie could lend (because the $420K limit wasn't keeping up with an over-inflated bubble) would have simply inflated the bubble even more. But let's go back to Bush's supression of all 50 States of the Union efforts to prevent predatory lending practices (2002-07).
On economics, let's not forget the steel import tarrifs that wrecking US engineering & manufacturing!
Or the off-the-books spending on open-ended commitments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the ABM 'Shield' (which still doesn't work). US defense spending is now 40% of GLOBAL defence spending. Who are are paying to defend against? EVERYONE ELSE? The Martians????
I am incredulous that Wingnut's column passes for an explanation of anything. Is he really getting paid to produce this stuff???
is impressive.
Next time, instead of reading this column, I'll just ask a mentally-impaired, Fox News-watching 5 year-old what they think.
Answers should be fairly similar in level of truth and reasoning.
Listing to this guy's closing comments:
The USA is a "...forward thinking, committed to liberty, and we remain, even for all our faults, a shining example to the rest of the world".
Okay, let's take this hollow rhetoric apart:
1) "forward thinking": by this does he mean GW Bush's stem cell research funding ban? Or is Mr. "wingnut" alluding to faith-based federal funding?? Or maybe Bush's efforts to have prayer in public schools?
2) "committed to liberty"-don't make me laugh: we have by far the largest prison population in the world. We jail people for having a bag of weed on them in some states. We jail people for almost anything--since the prison building lobby bankrolls so many Congressmen's elections. Oh yeah, "liberty": just like Warrantless Wiretapping and gutting Habeous Corpus is liberty. Like Guantanamo is a shining example of liberty. Yep: liberty is the feeling I get when I, as a US citizen go through USA Customs when returning from abroad ("take off yer shoes NOW! Why did you leave the country? What is your job and why? Put your hands on the railing NOW!!! etc). Liberty in USA? Don't make me laugh.
3) "a shining example to the rest of the world"--who believes this rubbish anymore? Anybody at this point? Anybody who has travelled abroad? (obviously mr. wingnut doesn't have a passport--like most republicans) knows only too well the encounters in bars, taverns, social functions where foreigners commonly mention they don't travel to USA anymore because of the huge hassles at the border, being treated like criminals upon entry and the excessive travel visa hassles now in place. "Why is your country so violent and dangerous?" is the question I hear time and time again when abroad. Are Europeans breaking down the door to move here? Of course not. They're quite happy right where they are, thanks.
Anyways, this "mr. wingnut" is full of baloney! Such hollow meaningless propaganda as this is really going beyond the pale at this point, and is in most bad taste. I wouldn't be caught saying this nonsense in public...I value having teeth too much--and like most Americans I don't have any dental insurance anyways to take such risks!
