Why Israelis support the Gaza offensive

Israel's post-traumatic war is not just about stopping Hamas rockets, but about repairing reputations -- and erasing the stain of failure.

    Did Salon go fiction?!?!

What is this guy talking about? Israel touted how progressive they were by having their lapdog Bush hold up the elections as progress, until Hamas won. Since then Israel has done everything they could to undermine them. Restraint? Only in Zionist la la land is starving a people and depriving them of medicine 'restraint'. The Israeli army 'brave and daring'?!?! Take away the US money and armor, make them answer for the actions to the world without US cover, and we'll see how brave they are. Dropping white phosphorous and cluster bombs on civilians isn't brave, it's chickenshit.

Why are all the pro-Israel cheerleaders afraid to say what the Israelis themselves say: the goal is not peace, the goal is to wipe the Palestinians off the face of the earth. Period. Ben Gurion said it, Sharon said, and every IDF soldier says it. Stop hiding behind words like 'home made rocket' and '4 Israelis were treated for shock' as an excuse to justify the slaughter of women and children. That's just cowardice. Admit the truth.

The tide is turning. Americans are getting tired of paying for silly wars in far away places, at a time when the country is bankrupt. Over 70% of the US is now against unconditional support for Israel. Each time an AIPAC member is caught spying, the US begins to question what it is we get from these people, and why our 'friends' need to spy on us. If and when our leaders listen to the will of the people, it's over. Then you can show you're brave and daring.
