Why Israelis support the Gaza offensive

Israel's post-traumatic war is not just about stopping Hamas rockets, but about repairing reputations -- and erasing the stain of failure.

Israel and the Third Reich: Joined at the hip-II

"the Gaza operation, on Dec. 27, reminded Israelis of their glorious military past."

Glory? Even its "war" against Egypt was a sham. Israelis historians and generals admit Sadat did not want war. He was just bluffing. Nonetheless, Israel attacked without warning because it wanted land, not peace. It destroyed the Egyptian air force on the ground, then tried to sink the American ship SS. Liberty so it wouldn't intercept details of Israeli soldiers killing unarmed Egyptian POWs.

What a foul nest of vipers Israel has devolved into. Founded by victims of the Holocaust, it spends all its time harming others.

"Israel's air force surprised by attacking dozens of targets simultaneously, killing hundreds of Palestinians in a matter of a few minutes."

Most of them civilians, too. How "brave"! The mighty Jewish warriors fire missiles from unopposed jets onto a helpless population during rush hour. Guernica 2008!

Remind us again why WWII Germans were so bad. If they’d had more time and “just” starved Jews to death, would that have been kosher? If being innocent it no protection, then why was gassing Jews bad? Might it have been more merciful than starvation?

"The military equated the attack with its most successful operation ever...

Germans performed many “successful” operations, too…especially in death camps. Countries are capable of a lot when they forego the brakes of morality.

"Hamas lacks any air defenses, but it shows [Israel’s] craving for success in the military."

Like the craving Prussia had for war? Like the Reich’s craving to crush civilians? At least the German army fought equal enemies, too, unlike IDF weenies.

"The enemy ridiculed Israel for relying on its air power, fearing the inevitable casualties of ground war. The military wanted to smash this cowardly image."

Time will tell how well the IDF does when finally faces Hamas. Of course, what they want is for Hamas to fight them in the open when Israeli soldiers can use tanks and helos and heavy artillery and so on against those who have none of that.

I suspect British regulars called colonial rebels “cowards,” too, for not fighting in ways the English preferred (knowing they’d win). Just like America called the Viet Cong cowards for not facing the most powerful military in the world on ITS terms.

Israel is like the big-as-a-mountain sumo wrestler who calls it “unfair” when the skinny 90-pound woman uses a gun to stop him attack in an alley.

"Or if something goes terribly wrong, as in Lebanon."

One can only hope it does. And soon.

"The government would like to end the operation by next week, leaving a clean table for President Barack Obama."

Hitler tried to give Europe a table “clean” of Jews, too. Israelis seems to now endorse his motives.

"With Hamas gone, Israel might have to deal with a Somali-style cauldron of gangs and warlords."

And that’d be good? That’s what Israel considers a viable Palestinian state?

How naive. All Hamas has to do is survive. It will then have all Palestinians supporting it. They will know that the only way to stop Israel, the only language Israel understands, is to use force.

The Muslim world will also hate Israel...and with good reason.

And an economically struggling America won't give as much support to Israel.

Plus more and more American Jews will disavow Israel and its brutality.

Worse, Jews around the world will be subject to attacks to avenge the terrorism used by the "Jewish" state.

"another one of Israel's long list of cross-border operations"

How contemptuous! Israel goes nuts when ONE of its citizens gets even wounded. Yet it thinks nothing of killing 600 Arabs (and wounding 3000 others) to score domestic points during an election. That’s what democracy is now, an engine to oppress others with?

How will Israelis react when retaliations begin? Beaten, starved, killed Arabs have survived. Israelis-- pampered, used to fighting from a distance, used to hi-tech weapons, comfortable with killing weaker opponents-- are untested. They have grown soft. They think fat, Uzi-wielding settlers protect by immoral IDF soldiers as they bully sick unarmed Arabs is being strong. In fact, they are weak. See how rough-tough-brave they are when 300 die at a time, victimized by those whose lives they made unlivable.

"rather than an effort to turn the tide on Islamic extremism."

Israel creates such extremism. It needs it to justify land-grabbing wars.

    "Israel is buying time."

Time is running out. More and more of the world is turning against it. Arabs have a higher birth rate. Antisemitism is rising because (1) people see how ruthless, amoral, and anti-peace the Jewish state is and (2) they’ve heard Israel justify its ruthlessness, making it okay to follow suit.

"Domestically, too, the war will hardly change the political reality."

Then why kill others? Israelis seem never to learn. After leaving Egypt, they angered Yaweh so much they had to wander for 4 decades.

"Israel went to war in the midst of an election campaign."

What fun! Germans probably increased their "output" of "baked" Jews during Christmas, too. Was that okay, too?

It’s unbelievable to see how low Israel has sunk. Then again, maybe we’re just seeing the truth that’s been there all along, not the myths Leon Uris and others created.

    "Olmert...resigned under corruption allegations...”

What? I thought only Arabs were corrupt.

“He only wants to repair his reputation from the Lebanon damage."

And to think he only had to destroy a ghetto, murdering a thousand Arabs, to restore his honor!

"the Gaza war is showing that Israel can stand up to its enemies,"

Provided the "enemy" is starving and overpopulated and boxed in and lacks hi-tech weapons provided by America.

"Otherwise, Israelis will still find it easier to go to war than to wage peace."

The world is finding less and less reason to support the Jewish state. What happens when boycotts begin? America, tending to its own problems, will offer no Berlin Airlift to save Israel from itself.
