Why Israelis support the Gaza offensive

Israel's post-traumatic war is not just about stopping Hamas rockets, but about repairing reputations -- and erasing the stain of failure.

    Fine, screw Israel

For years Israel's public relations soldiers have publically flogged anyone who has criticized Israel's policies as anti-Semites while simultaneously claiming that their criticism is moot since nobody will actually do anything to stop Israel (even though that begs the question why someone like Satanic_Jew would even bother to come to Salon to post). Well people are tired of it and don't care any more. Go ahead and call whomever you like anti-Semitic, that word has been rendered almost meaningless by its constant misuse.

Personally I used to be pro-Israel, but I have become weary of the lengths to which Israel goes in fighting their enemies. And that combined with all of the abuse I have received for my concern about universal human rights has made me stop caring. Now I think either Israel should become a single nation-state for both Israelis and Palestinians or bugger it all. Go ahead and push it into the sea for all I care. The Zionist movement has done what it takes to establish a nation-state in a hostile land, and continues to do what it takes to stay. And suffering terrorism is part of that, as is spreading their own terror. In the case of Israel/Palestine I have come to see that terrorism is just war by other means, so there is no reason to support Israel over their enemies.

So go choke on the sacred land, keep spreading destruction and death, hoping that massacring one more family will bring Israel permanent peace, until you are overwhelmed by demographics. In the end everybody will be alienated and nobody will care, and stupid assholes like Satanic_Jew will be left whining about how the whole world is anti-Semitic in one big self-fulfilling prophecy.
