Obama campaigned on his personality and judgment and won. Now, like it or not, he isn't beholden to anyone.

Dear Leader, my fat Aunt Harriet!

"This is the mythic "independence" we're supposed to crave -- a czar who doesn't owe anyone..."

Only intellectuals sit around and try to think up historical things that mean the same thing in today's environment. Let me add a touch of reality to another otherwise fantasy that's been going on now since Obama kicked Jeremiah Wright under the bus.

America didn't vote for a benevolent dictator. Actually, I wouldn't be too sure that many of those who ended up voting for Obama actually wanted HIM.

Only in the Democratic party could so many be so snookered so quickly by a guy who hadn't done much of anything his entire life. And I am referring to the so-called "netroots" who thought they controlled the world and have found out how the world actually controlls THEM.

Here comes the pragmatic part: Call it what you want. If the guy doesn't produce he's out on his ass in 4 years and the rest of you can sit around and blog yourselves to death about "why."
