more!

This is great. Why can't we have some damn honesty on TV too?

Friday, September 5, 2008 06:56 PM

How can we possibly reward such a backward, whiny, redneck view of the universe, as is embodied in Sarah Palin?

The country is being taken over by cretans. I truly believe that the majority of the country's citizens are simpletons, and dangerously "red", as we say in Ohio. And they are reproducing much more quickly than their more thoughtful liberal cousins. I'm more afraid now than I was when Bush/Cheney were spewing their pre-digested hateful agenda. Now, the contestants are not only hateful, but horrifyingly stupid.

McCain's security blanket?

Behind the scenes report doesn't match the clear airtime story.

Republicans, indoctrinated to adhere to the neo-con politically correct book, deflect from their alleged norm when they think none are watching.

Interesting observations on Palin's qualities. Little more than a ranking from Playboy through Penthouse to Hustler views of viewable worthiness.

Why can't we have some damn honesty on TV too?

Because the cameras with the videos of the buses with the prostitutes from Chicago got confiscated, that's why.

Funny Stuff

good observations, trivial yet not so.

The Bob Dole-Britney Spears ticket? Or the British Petroleum - ExxonMobile ticket?

Here's a good working model for a new Republican campaign ad featuring Palin & McCain:

As far as Palin's energy policy? Moving Alaskan natural gas to Alberta tar sands via the Transcanada pipeline - with the help of a direct $500 million subsidy from the state of Alaska - and $18 billion in loan guarantees from the U.S. Congress? The big winners being international investors in Alberta tar sands, such as British Petroleum, Exxon, Shell, China, Conoco - and so on?

It's hard to greenwash this process:

No, the gas is not destined for the lower 48 - but some of the synthetic crude produced in Alberta might be, as long as China doesn't offer to pay more for it:

"Cretans" are taking over America? Have they invaded Turkey as well?

You should probably proofread before you start throwing around the "stupid" word.

Wonderful story

..with a very poignant ending. Fantastic.

Republicans, indoctrinated to adhere to the neo-con politically correct book, deflect from their alleged norm when they think none are watching.

You'd think that exposing Republican pols as drunken, fornicating hypocrites would discredit them with the social conservative rank-and-file, except that the rank-and-file does the same thing. Then they do penance by pretending it never happened and deflect accusations by projecting their personal failures on Democrats.

Standard operating procedure for a Republican.

The very nature of conservatism requires conservatives to be hypocrites - the more conservative, the greater the hypocrisy.

Fantastic writing. Can't wait for the memoir. Social observation that reminded me of f.scott fitzgerald a little. Heartbreaking, indeed.

A needed laugh

This was a fun read. Good, observant writing. Great sense of humor. No predjudgement. I don't think I've ever read anything about the human side of "Republicans," such as it is. In one shift he manages to capture the essence of the "Republican" soul.

It would be interesting to witness the moods of these same people when the McCain campaign implodes. Palin's connection to the Alaskan Independence Party will be enough, but her record and trashy personal life will likely cause her to depart the ticket.

In two months the "hero" shtick will be pretty tiresome. If being tortured makes one a hero, then the next cabinet should be chosen from the masses who have endured in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo. If being shot down on a bombing run intended for civilians makes one a hero, then Timothy McVeigh should have been accorded the same status.

"Not all conservatives are stupid, but most stupid people are conservative."

How else do you expect Republicans to disremember their failures, their hypocrisies, and their crimes? The easiest way is to be an utter moron.

Put any pub up on a witness stand and ask about the charges, and any pub will instantly become a blithering idiot who has no idea what you're talking about and are therefore incompetent to be held accountable for their actions. Witness Rumsfeld, called on the carpet by a Senate committee:

Rumsfeld: " I have not read the report ..."
Rumsfeld: " ... it's not something I've read, it's not something I've been briefed on ..."
Rumsfeld: "Well, I haven't seen the poll ..."
Rumsfeld: "I have no idea ..."
Rumsfeld: " ... I'm not in a position to comment on because I just have no knowledge of it ..."
Rumsfeld: "I have no idea ..."
Rumsfeld: "Well, I don't -- I don't think I have, but I don't know. I'd have to check."
Rumsfeld: "... I can't recall any."

Clinton shouldn't have said "I never had sex with that woman." He should have said, "Uh, duh, uh, I dunno." That would have stumped them.

It's call the Stupid Defense, perfected under Reagan, who was always perfectly clueless every time he was compelled to respond to questions. Although, to be fair, Reagan really was stupid.

Use a long A when you pronounce 'yahoos'

"If you include the Evangelicals, nearly every person at the RNC headquarters has a voice whispering in his ear."

Great piece. Getting a woody over Alaskan white trash is part of the election of '08. Learn to love it!

The Gov is the living proof that abstinence-only education works.

Meanwhile, in Denver, there were few police beatings and no major damage. What's up with the St. Paul police and their pre-convention raids? I agree with the "fascist" comment by the youngster.

(And do people the author's age really still use the word 'brat'?)

Tim McVeigh is revered as a saint in VFW posts and right-wing paramilitary camps throughout the country. Something they never mention outside a VFW post or right-wing paramilitary camp.

I wouldn't Palin with McCain's .

Some of us don't care for pit bulls in lipstick, so at the risk of making the goats jealous, the wingnuts are welcome to them.
