Barack Dukakis won't get anywhere near 270. The number of people I know who literally laugh at the proposition of voting for him is astounding, and these are long time Democrats in liberal states. Their reasons vary but the most frequent is his lack of experience. They view Obama supporters as childish and gullible.
I am trying to be as un-gullible and adult as I can be, after reading your post. First, if you can understand me on the Barack Dukakis nuptials. I am escaping the symbolism here.
Secondly, the number of people you know, long time Democrats in these various liberal states, is remarkable. And even though they are laughing about Obama's lack of experience and all that, you will have to admit that the sampling of your friends and acquaintances is but anecdotal and does not really amount to any empirical evidence.
According to the polls and also the primary vote, you will agree that a lot of people felt exactly the same way about Clinton and McCain.
But I am more interested in the continuing dimunization of Obama supporters as childish and gullible as opposed to supporters of Clinton or McCain. Was there something in our mothers' milk that kept us naive and impressionable, even after we attained education, travelled the world over and raised some exceptional children, while working our hearts out to ensure social justice for all. Matter of fact, I could send you a list of Obama endorsers and we could go through the names of these accomplished movers and shakers and tick them off as childish and gullible or not.
I know you are a better person than that, because you did acknowledge, that in spite of Ted Kennedy being complete heel in his personal life, he is one of the best senators we have ever had.
