It's all about the money
Just read this very interesting tidbit on Slate, which I think helps to answer the question of why Hillary's still in this thing:
Debt retirement gets a little more complicated when candidates lend their own money to their campaign. After an election is over, any campaign contributions that go toward repaying the candidate's own loans serve, in practice, as money directly into a politician's pocket. As a result, campaign law (PDF) now limits to $250,000 the amount a campaign committee can repay the candidate after the election. In the case of the Democratic primary, the election will end when a nominee is selected in Denver. So unless Clinton is able to raise enough money to pay herself back by then, she'll have to write off millions of dollars she lent to her campaign.

I know that Bill and Hil have done well for themselves since leaving the White House, but $11 million is a lot of scratch. Is it possible that she's staying in this thing and continuing to exploit the poor deluded saps who think she still has a chance, just so she can repay the loans she unwisely extended herself? That would be a new low for someone who I didn't think could sink much lower.

"particularly in states like Florida, which many Obama supporters seem very eager to disenfranchise. Are our memories really so short?"
I've seen this idea floating around a lot but I'm not sure where it came from. Is It just seems baseless nad conspiratorial since people just say it without backing it up. As far as I can tell, everybody wants a resoultion of the mess in MI and FL- but neither Obama nor his supporters (I am one) have or tried to disenfranchise voters there.
Many have pointed out, on the other hand, that you can't seat the delagates based on the elections they held because both candidates agreed not to campaign in those states and in Michigan Obama was not even on the ballot.
Yes, there needs to be a resolution to this mess. But pointing out the fact that the elections in these states were compromised is not the same as trying to disenfranchise people. I'm kind of suprpised that people are pushing the MI results especially since 45% of people turned out to vote against Hillary with no one else on the ballot!
An aside- has anyone seen a breakdwon of what the numbers would mean in terms of pledged delegates in FL and MI?

its clear what clinton is holding out for
She wants the VP slot so, if elected, 6 months in the Clintons can put a bullet in Obama's head(or maybe poison or plane crash) and she can then fulfill her arrogant quest for power. Never trust a Clinton around power.

I just wrote about this in another comment, so the info is fresh in my brains. According to the Clinton campaign's own estimates, seating the Florida and Michigan delegates as-is would net Hillary about 55 additional pledged delegates.

jebldmm re: I might not be a Democrat.
I cannot recall if you're one of the Clinton supporters who called upon voters to recognize sexism displayed against Senator Clinton. Either way, if you care at all about women's rights, please consider before voting for McCain that he is anti-choice and will appoint seriously right-wing judges to the Supreme Court. This is, at least, something that Clinton and Obama supporters should agree on.

Speaking of new lows...
"I know that Bill and Hil have done well for themselves since leaving the White House, but $11 million is a lot of scratch. But apparently, you can sink much lower though that's not a surprise. Anyway, I'm sure your speculation is "possible". It's also unreasonable and silly.

VP
Speaking of VP's... Who will James Dobson and Rev. Hagee select for John McCain's VP? Any ideas?

I don't know what any of that is supposed to mean, except that it's probably supposed to be insulting. Unfortunately, I'm more confused than offended. Would you care to take another crack at it, sweetheart?

@celiainSF
celia..any post I have written has been respectful of young women who support Obama. I have just asked that you stand up to sexism when you encounter it not that you change your support to Hillary. I have seen precious little of that. Instead I see posts that start with ....I am a feminist but,... and then proceed to catalogue a long list of Republican driven memes against Hillary. Why do you think they have been lying about her for so long? Which candidate really threatens the status quo? I did not say I will vote for McCain, I will probably write in Hillary and vote for my local Dems. As far as the Supreme Court goes well, maybe it is time you younger women took some risks and put women's rights out there instead of hiding safely from the fight and letting fearless women like Hillary take all the hits.

show me
Your post made me sad.
You would sacrifice your daughter's, granddaughters, nieces, etc. right to choose because you're angry at SOME Obama supporters? I hope that you can get past all the angry rhetoric flying around to really think about what you're advocating.

Cheers BryanS!
So I have to sort of think Clinton is pushing this more to make it look like an issue of fairness to get her supporters riled up. (The problem being that she agreed not to campaign there either and to abide by the party's punishment of MI and FL.) Netting another 55 delegates means she would still need a lot of the unpledged supers. Her thin margin in Indiana undermines the narrative of the tide-change in february they have been pushing (cited in the huffpo piece) as a lot of people abandoned her largely on the gas tax holiday business. I don't see a way out in the numbers game unless something crazy happens. But never underestimate the power of crazy in polictics.
Thanks again for the info Bryan!
