  • Just take her time

The "Hillary should drop out if..." campaign has been pushed by the Obama camp and some of the media at various times and in different versions since Iowa. She should continue to ignore them and take her sweet time to do whatever it is she is going to do.

  • @ Show Me and KateTex

    Your spitefulness is shocking.

    Do you really mean it?

**You would vote McCain specifically to undo Roe v. Wade, to punish us?!?**

I disagree with Clinton and have said I would have a hard time voting for her. There is absolutely no way on earth I would vote McCain though. I'd have a hard time supporting Hillary for the blood on her hands with the war vote and her hawkishness on Iran terrifies me. Her sabre rattling warmongering attitude is in direct opposition to my feminism! I dont' see how people can't get that.

I hope you'll calm down and reflect on this. If you would hope to punish young women for supporting the candidate who they think is more consistent with their politics and you think that is selling out simply because he has a penis- well then I don't think you were much feminists or progressives or democrats in the first place. Just small, petty, mean people.

  • Immaturity

It really sounds like some people are basically saying "Some anonymous people on the internet, who I have never met, who claim to be Obama supporters, hurt my feelings so now I want Obama to lose. Its all about ME ME ME and my hurt feelings." I'm not surprised - it is what you hear in every tightly contested recent election. And yet it seems so valid at the time.

Remember: It isn't personal. Nobody here knows anybody else. If we met most of us would probably be far more civil, excluding perhaps those who are actually GOP Rushbots or writing from a prison for the criminally insane. The internet is a cesspool. You don't know anything about Clinton Supporters or Obama Supporters just because you got into a flamewar with some political junkies online.

Now that Obama is winning some of his supporters are becoming magnanimous in victory, while others (many who just mysteriously showed up) are being brazenly misogynistic and inflammatory in attacking Clinton while nominally supporting Obama. That's how it goes on the internet - it has NOTHING to do with Obama or Clinton as people or candidates. You would see the EXACT same crap about Dean or Clark or Kerry or Edwards etc. supporters in 2004 (or Bradley vs. Gore in 2000 if the internet were as prominent then.) Of course the latent racism/sexism/identity politics stuff only makes it worse.

If you stay on these boards you are going to see an increasing influx of Obama supporters in the coming weeks. Many of them will not care a whit about this whole Obama vs. Clinton primary drama, most probably they weren't paying attention. That is because we are now transitioning to the General Election stage - They will not really be so much Obama Supporters as Democratic Supporters. Obama is mostly done attacking Clinton and is focusing his guns on McCain, who has trained his sights on Obama. Clinton is still attacking Obama for the time being. But soon all this drama we have generated will just kind of evaporate.

People are just sooo caught up in the personalities to the exclusion of the policies. People are actually saying "Let America fall into disrepair under McCain. That'll show those ungrateful boys/young women/blacks etc. who insulted Clinton (and by extension me)." Take a step back and look - people are incredibly rude on the internet. Not just self-proclaimed Obama supporters.

  • It certainly DOES matter

If Obama wants to win in November, that is.

It should be obvious to anyone who's been following these threads the last few months that Obama is not going to unite the party simply by being named the nominee. His primary victories have been far from overwhelming and like it or not, he is going to need Clinton's voters to come out for him in the fall - particularly in states like Florida, which many Obama supporters seem very eager to disenfranchise. Are our memories really so short?

Hillary has stated repeatedly that her ultimate goal is to see a Democrat in the White House - so all of you conspiracy theorists who keep complaining that she's evil and will take the whole party down with her rather than lose the nomination, STFU already! She will run out the primary string in order to give all of her supporters an opportunity to vote for her (this IS an historic campaign, remember?), and then she will very gracefully concede, roll up her sleeves, and do everything she can to see that Obama wins the presidency.

So for the Obamamaniacs who are gleefully anticipating the demise of Senator Clinton, sorry to disappoint you, but she's not going to disappear. The party needs her.

  • @Kate Tex

Thanks Kate...I have always known we are kindred spirits, you are far more willing to do battle online than I am and I appreciate your strength.

masaccio...your impatience with people who have feminist sensibilities or racial senibilities tells me that you have not experienced either kind of descrimination in your lifetime. It will take a while for Obama supporters to understand who played the racial card first. Any older AA cannot deny that the Clinton's have been on the side of racial justice all their lives.

dash 7...As a fellow Ann Richards fan are you trying to say she did not know how to play hardball? Are you saying that Hillary does not have progressive policies?

  • Sick Bunch

I really don't understand the crazed Obamatons! They're basically accusing Hillary of being a craven, ambitious politician for "wanting the White House." I suppose Obama, who has been in the U.S. Senate for two minutes, is running for city council? Oh, I know, she's a woman. And being ambitious is unbecoming on a woman. Pathetic! I wonder if Obama know who some of his "supporters" are. I think he'd be horrified.
