  • Conley is so wrong.

Conley gets this so wrong in so many ways, I don't know where to begin. Clinton had leverage months ago. She's already done her race-baiting damage and there is really no reason for Obama to make a deal with her at this point.

Right of first refusal for VP? Give me a break! Obama doesn't want her, nor should he. The whole thing is a trap - she doesn't want to be VP and would just turn it down, thus embarrassing Obama and sending an unmistakeable message to her core supporters.

Pay off her campaign debts? Why? Again, that deal might have made sense months ago. What Obama would have needed in return would have been a cessation of racially tinged attacks. What's his incentive to give her campaign millions of dollars now?

Finally - don't pay your staff, they knew what they were getting into - huh?

  • @Showme

You harp on the way HRC has been treated by the bullyboyz, and the Obama people hammer on the way the HRC people have played the race card. I hate this stuff on both their parts.

If we don't rally behind the winner, we get John McCain. We get more Sam Alitos. We get more bloody wars. We get incompetent economic management. We get angrier at each other.

In 1968, I was so angry at the Democratic party I could spit. All of the young democrats did the same. In the end, we got Hubert Humprhey, and we didn't lift a finger to help him get elected. Thousands of dead Americans later, and hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese, Cambodians, Laotians and Australians and countless others were DEAD. That was the start of the long slide of this nation. We have to stop acting like that. Now.

In the end, we have to fight for our Country.

  • SUPREME COURT FOR LOSING CANDIDATE

The best peacemaking device I can imagine is for the victorious candidate to promise the loser will be her or his first appointment to the Supreme Court. Either candidate would make an outstanding justice and we'd have the benefit of them both.

  • @show me - bravo!

"I cannot find it in myself to reward the behavior of the Obama campaign,it's supporters, the media and the bully blogger boyz."

Yes, this is exactly what so many of us are feeling. I'm with you a hundred percent.

As for your comment re Roe v. Wade - you've nailed it. Let the younger generation of women, many of whom seem to despise Hillary Clinton and all her contempories, find out what it means to lose the ground that older women have fought so hard for. Many of these younger women don't seem to have a clue. To them, older women are superfluous, outmoded, damaged goods.

As for the men who have been demonizing Hillary for months now, it's more than a little ironic that these bullies warn of a SCOTUS reversal of Roe should McCain become president. Their regard for women apparently doesn't go beyond knowing they'll be off the hook should their girlfriend become pregnant.

  • What does she want? Does it matter?

She may have had some bargaining power, but she's lost it, or at least is hemorraging it by the day. The longer she continues her rancorous lost cause the more irrelevant she becomes. We are getting to the point where the Party leadership will sit her down for that little talk and give her the heave-ho.

After Tuesday night there was talk that she would step aside in a dignified manner. But instead, she has sunk lower into her divisive racially polluted sewer of a campaign. Her comments today in USA Today are inexcusable. She's pandering for votes in an electorate that will go to the Republicans no matter who tops the Democratic ticket. She's lost any leverage she might have had and she'll be kicked to the sidelines shortly. Good riddence and good luck with your speaking engagements.

  • @ Show Me and KateTex

Has it ever occurred to either of you that a lot of people are against Hillary because they disagree with her? It seems like you guys are projecting an awful lot onto her and her campaign.

To me, the fact that she's a woman has nothing to do with my lack of support for her. Hell, if Ann Richards were still alive and running for president I'd be the happiest man on this planet. Hillary may be the first woman running for president, but to me, the only thing that distinguishes her from the same old typical malepolitician is her uterus. Why, in the world, should I vote for her? What has she done that's so extraordinary? I'd love to hear how her valiant stance against video game violence or her Gas Tax "Holiday" shenanigans or her 7 years of service to the Wal Mart corporation set her apart from the other candidates.

And Show Me, I think Hillary Clinton knows a thing or two about using "Republican lies".

  • The ONLY way

Hillary will concede defeat is if she has a heart-attack or she doesn't get enough superdelegate votes.

    That's about it.

  • It's only a matter of time

Before the consensus at Salon is that Hillary is clearly and obviously a far far far far far far far far right wing mole sent to the Democrats to stew dissent and force the peaceful peaceloving bloggers of peace to fight the powers of Darkness. And they have proof, proof I say!
