It certainly DOES matter
If Obama wants to win in November, that is.
It should be obvious to anyone who's been following these threads the last few months that Obama is not going to unite the party simply by being named the nominee. His primary victories have been far from overwhelming and like it or not, he is going to need Clinton's voters to come out for him in the fall - particularly in states like Florida, which many Obama supporters seem very eager to disenfranchise. Are our memories really so short?
Hillary has stated repeatedly that her ultimate goal is to see a Democrat in the White House - so all of you conspiracy theorists who keep complaining that she's evil and will take the whole party down with her rather than lose the nomination, STFU already! She will run out the primary string in order to give all of her supporters an opportunity to vote for her (this IS an historic campaign, remember?), and then she will very gracefully concede, roll up her sleeves, and do everything she can to see that Obama wins the presidency.
So for the Obamamaniacs who are gleefully anticipating the demise of Senator Clinton, sorry to disappoint you, but she's not going to disappear. The party needs her.
