What would it take for Clinton to concede defeat? An insider remembers -- and draws lessons from -- the backroom deals that ended another brutal, racially charged Democratic slugfest.
  • negotiations with Clinton

Times have changed and Obama is running as a different kind of candidate. There is nothing Clinton really wants short of the presidency, and she can't be trusted to hold up her end of any bargain. She can raise all the money she needs (and is rich anyway). There will be no substantive deal. Obama would look weak if he gave in to the conditions in the article, and Bill Richardson as VP will help him out the most in winning the election (in a landslide). If she hurts his chances in the general election she will pay a price, not just in legacy, but with a serious primary opponent in her next Senate election.
