What would it take for Clinton to concede defeat? An insider remembers -- and draws lessons from -- the backroom deals that ended another brutal, racially charged Democratic slugfest.
  • Why should she have to drop out?

The conventional wisdom seems to be that "healing" won't occur unless Clinton drops out. I disagree. I think that forcing her to drop out will only serve to further alienate her supporters. If the DNC and Obama start treating Clinton and her supporter's like valuable members of the team instead of like children who must be brought into line, then "healing" will occur much more rapidly.

Clinton has not lost. Stop trying to force Clinton out and let her run her campaign. She is not using dirty tricks on Obama. She has been running a straightforward "I'm more experienced" campaign. He and his supporter's would do well to stop attacking her and start focusing on presenting his own qualifications. With the primary still running, the media focus will stay on the Democratic Party. The DNC and Obama supporters should stop focusing on beating Clinton and start focusing on convincing her supporter's that Obama is worth voting for. You can start by showing Clinton some respect.
