Orwellian @jebldmnn
You can blame Clinton for not responding adequately, but she made a choice to take the high road and not divide the party. It's very hard to win an election when you're playing fair and your opponent isn't. And for those who celebrate Obama's "win at any cost" strategy -
Wow. Just....wow. Isn't this "black is white, war is peace" stuff the Bush Administration's specialty?

For the record
Although I can't speak for all AAs, nor would I try to do so, I DO NOT THINK HILLARY IS A RACIST.
What I do think, however, is that she doesn't have a sufficient committment to the struggle for racial equality to avoid using race-baiting strategies to advance her own political aspirations.
I know that calling someone a racist in our culture is to level a grevious charge. HRC doesn't rise to this level. I do think, however, that she abets those who might be labelled as racists. This is a lesser charge, but not a positive attribute either.

I have been working in Black neighborhoods in Primary States...
1. African-Americans are almost completely ANTI-WAR! They do not support Hillary because she voted for the war. People seem to forget that once the African-American community became convinced that Obama had a chance to in -- after Iowa -- they started supporting him heavily -- BECAUSE OF HIS STANCE AGAINST THE WAR!!
2. African-Americans will leave the Democratic Party IN DROVES, if Hillary steals the nomiation. Hillary people can scream and complain all they want -- but unless they are able to make up for the votes of Blacks and the young -- they are DESTROYING THE PARTY RIGHT NOW.
That is just the way it is.

KateTx.
Are you sure that percentage of blacks in america is 13%? Such an unlucky number, unlucky for Clinton that is.

rebeca making it real
Thank you. The reason, the primary reason why, in my opinion, most black voters will not cast their vote for Hillary Clinton, is because a very large percentage of black America serves in the military. Many feel used and duped by politicians of the lowest repute, and Hillary Clinton is one of those who elected to conform, rather than trascend and reform, the way America conducts itself in the world.

@Celia
You are hereby forbidden to use the surname Clinton and the adjective Rovian in the same sentence. This is simply a means of pushing a really shabby argument. Not only shabby, but entirely unconvincing. Are we to believe that the Clintons are racial poseurs who chose the occasion of the 2008 primaries to finally show their true colors, in the process negating their entire histories in the public life? Are we to further believe that the Clintons coincidentally became politically tone deaf in service of their newborwn wedge issue? Sorry, this is patently absurd. Not only that, but very depressing.

@ KateTex
@FilthyHarry - excuse me?
"I don't believe the Clintons are racists. However I and I bet a whole lotta people do believe that the Clintons were willing to be dismissive and disrespectful to black people if they thought it would help win primaries."
How in the hell would this have helped Hillary Clinton win black votes in the primaries? Do you really believe the Clintons, long known for progressive views on race, hatched a plan to conquer Obama by writing off 13 percent of the American population? Not even Dan Quayle could be that stupid.
-- KateTex
I didn't say nor do I believe the Clintons intended to be dismissive to black people. What they did, I believe was in their growing desperation and fear at the threat Obama represented to a campaign they had believed they had already won was to be dismissive of EVERYONE who voted for Obama. Several times during the campaign, they have made remarks dismissing the relevance of small states and caucus states. This of course is an insult to everyone one of those people. The MSM in its for profit motive that drives the news cycle noted that black people were a sub group of the total people that were dismissed by the Clintons and ran with it. Yeah its fucked up but but no more than the MSM's current obsession with Rev. Wright, except in this case it happened to be true that the Clintons were dismissive to a whole lot of people, and that a few poorly worded phrases really highlighted the dismissive attitude towards black people. I don't think nor did I ever say it was a strategy. Its a personality trait revealed under the stress of the campaign.
You have to admit comments about small or caucus states not counting WAS stupid for the Clinton campaign to make. Even Quayle didn't do that.

eye on 2012
Filthy:"I don't believe the Clintons are racists. However I and I bet a whole lotta people do believe that the Clintons were willing to be dismissive and disrespectful to black people if they thought it would help win primaries."

If the Clinton camp is in fact deliberately writing off the African-American vote at this late stage in the campaign, it makes sense if you believe that she doesn't believe she can win the nomination, but wants to hobble Obama so that she has a shot at facing incumbent McCain in 2012.
If it's so, it's a reprehensible calculus and may seriously damage the democratic party beyond 2008-- but it strikes me as a plausible explanation of what the Clintons are doing.

Sorry KateTex
You really can't forbid me from saying anything. That is cute though- LOL.
Does the Rove thing just cut too close too the bone?
You didn't respond to the fact that the article you posted completely undermines your argument.

YES! Sad to say it, but yes, this is what many have come to believe (to our horror and shame.)

@rebeca
And you are forbidden to use the phrase "steal the nomination" in conjunction with any permutation of "Hillary" and "Clinton". This business is about her "stealing" anything is so much utter nonsense.
