    The very fact that you're having this discussion at all is ample proof there is a significant slice of the populace who believes it critical. Otherwise the Saloniks would be elected pashas of the Universe 8 years ago, but you're not, are you? Religion is as much a part of the political dialog in America as are guns and abortion. Waving your hands over your head and screaming it's not real doesn't make it go away.

    No the problem is essentially political and Dems are clumsy at this issue. They can't say they are believers w/o irritating their base and they can't say they aren't because it will irritate everyone else. "I was for it before I was against it"
