Hillary's missteps are legion, but both candidates are flesh and blood, and their squandered opportunities have prolonged the race.

  • For the sake of the party? Or forsaking it? Cynicism vs. Vision

Let's ignore for the moment that the media is responsible for the fact that campaigns are entertainment, and so they don't allow candidates to speak on the issues. The most recent debate is the perfect example. But the media is diffuse and changing it to do other than it does is a tricky task in a free speech society. So it is what it is. Let's talk therefore of leaders.

The apologist talk show spin is that Romney got out on the Republican side to save the party from destroying itself in a protracted debate. That's surely at least partially face saving but it's a defensible position, and in practice whether it's the reason for getting out or just the effect, it's benefited the Republicans.

McCain is getting a free pass in the press and the opportunity to avoid missteps in debates because he's not in contention with anyone. Republicans are free to spin Hillary as still in the game because they'd rather run against her than Barack. Independents who would vote for McCain in the election are free to vote Hillary in the primaries in some states, improving McCain's chances.

National debt is a big problem, and Hillary's record managing her campaign's finances don't engender confidence. Climate change will require united approaches among varied constituencies and we need a uniter, not the divider that Hillary has lately shown herself to be. Also, Obama/McCain at least promises to be a dignified campaign that's about issues, while Clinton/McCain already promises to be more personality oriented, side-stepping the substance of important issues. It's time to move on from all of that.

Politics will not become a Utopia overnight, but it does need to evolve. The relevance of the youth vote is not just that they're a separate number of votes, it's that they're the face of the future population, disenchanted with the way the old guard has been running things and they want a fair shake at a new way of doing things. Hillary's message that cynicism trumps vision is a sad one, not just for them, but for all of us.

    Hillary needs to stand down.

  • Once AGAIN

people are discounting the Republicans surging into signing up to vote in the Democratic primaries.

Ok...now for YEARS the Democrats have chosen their candidate LONG before now...and NOW suddenly, no clear-cut winner is in sight.

And COINCIDENTALLY, a massive surge of Republicans are voting in the Democratic primary...and everyone puts this down to the Repubicans just deciding to vote Democrat ALL OF A SUDDEN?!

AND Rush Limabaugh even SAYS this is what is happening with his Operation Chaos...and no one believes him?!

Amazing how people can ignore the obvious!!! If you analyze the idea behind Operation Chaos, it is to cause fracture in the Democratic party...further it is to give the two Democratic candidates time to seriously wound their political chances - all to give McCain the ability to win the Presidency.

  • What stalemate?

There is no stalemate except in the nitwit minds of cowardly reporters. Instead of a drumbeat of why is Hillary destroying the party? You prop up this savage beast in her destruction of the party.

  • PHONY PHONY PHONY

"The best guess is that early on, based on polling, Clinton became convinced that the Armed Services Committee (on which she serves with John McCain and Joe Lieberman) sounds far too hawkish for Democratic audiences and should be airbrushed out of her résumé until the general election."

She's a phony all the way. She wouldn't even allow military uniforms to be worn in the White House. How she got some military men to sit on the platform with her is a mystery. Perhaps they were promised bigger pensions.

IT IS A BEAUTIFUL THING TO WATCH HER AND HER CAMPAIGN IMPLODING!!!!!!

  • It's Incredible

The democratic party finally has a balls-out, kick in the groin fighter, and the party is freaking out. What the hell is this?--get rid of her....Let's put up another big-eared nerd.

  • This article is florid nonsense

"Trapped by the true-believer enthusiasm that the fledging Illinois senator arouses, the Obama campaign has become something of a Cool Kids Club. Either you are a full-fledged member (with the secret handshake and the decoder ring) or else you find yourself voting for a well-known, albeit flawed, alternative called Hillary Clinton."

Is this analysis? Is it reporting? I don't think so; it's received wisdom with little evidence to support the florid conclusions. Yet the article acts as if unquestioning adulation of their candidate defines Obama supporters.

A comprehensive look at the internet postings of Clinton supporters will show you that there are "true-believers" among the Clintonites who fail to see any flaws in their candidate and who in fact treat as signs of genius what an objective viewer would see as flaws.

And what the hell is this business about a "secret handshake and the decoder ring?" This suggests that the Obama campaign is exclusionary. It is not.

  • Will the Democrats survive Obama's ego?

We all remember how the media destroyed Howard Dean's chances for the presidency by airing his motivational scream a few years back. It was truly misrepresented and repeated every few minutes until the damage was done. Dean thought enough of the party however to withdraw his nomination because he knew right or wrong it reflected badly on the party.

Obama on the other hand has no such qualms. He has managed to reinforce every negative stereotype of the Democrats (the anti americanism of rev. "god damn america" wright, his elitist comment about bitter gun toting rural people, the revolutionary activity of the weather underground, etc.).

We need a true uniter and that is Hillary. She has proven time and again she can work with Republicans at any level. Even her greatest critics have admitted that.

We have seen the damage George Bush's ego has created over the last 8 years with his go it alone attitude. The last thing we need is more of that.

If Obama cared at all about the Democratic party he would take the VP position, which is more than any freshman senator with no experience deserves.
