The party is caught in an excruciating Catch-22. Whether it chooses the establishment figure or the liberal reformer, history offers many paths to defeat.
  • 5 presidents to 2 - 30 years to 12

    Since nixon we have had 5 Republican presidents governing for 30 years and 12 years of Democratic presidents, 8 of those democratic years by Clinton.

    To say Democrats have been challenged in electing a president since the 70's is an understatement.

    I don't know that this article may have helped define some reasons for this, I am not sure. I do know the things in the Dems favor are not the candidates nor Democratic party leadership, but instead the worsening economy and a wildly unpopular Republican president.

    Thats something to hang your hat on.
