  • Slow News Week

My God can we get off the Obama comments already? Surely, there are more important events taking place around the globe? But then again, maybe not. Maybe everyone is happy with the state of the union? No bitter people out there?

  • So Long and Thanks for all the Kool-Aid!

I've enjoyed reading these letters. Long may this thread live and many thanks to you all for time and efforts well spent. Obama has my full attention now because I am loving his honesty. How refreshing to hear it like it is. Heartfelt appreciation to those who *know* how much rural Americans have survived over the past decades. I hope this blows the lid off the whole thing. I have family still alive who can tell you stories of the days when people died because the closest hospital was over 100 miles away. Time to put it right and stand united as the kind of people who build the bridges, the hospitals and the roads. We are those people. We always have been. We just need to stand up and tell it like it is.

  • Clinton supporters

Are you high? Really, are you delusional? Off your Prozac?

Did you not learn math in school? I will avoid making a joke about "girls" and "math" in respect to both of my sisters -- both have advanced degrees, one of them has an advanced degree in MATH.

    Guess what? She supports OBAMA.

Hillary is going to lose, you crack-smokers. I'm talking to you, proud texas who the hell cares and f*ck texas girl and we've just been fooled again ("The Who" can suck it).

Guess what? I would say that maybe as many as 30% of the "gun toting, jesus loving, nigger hating" demo in Penn might vote for Obama; They aren't going to vote for Clinton. They may not be savvy enough to know that she sent their jobs to China and Mexico in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are smart enough to know a liar and a snake when they see one.

  • Obama does not know it all, even though he thinks he does.

As always, he presumes he is right and knows it all...which is arrogant and an elitist mind set.

There have been endless things to complain resulting only because of the Bush Administration. He committed psychological warfare on this country and as a result, he guided his sheep to “go shopping to help the economy” while they buy all of the cheap imports from around the globe that Bush opened up to this country. The more people spend, inflation will kick in resulting in higher net profits. Not only has inflation caused prices to sky rocket, precious and needed bulks of land around the globe have now been taken over by ethanol demand, which is a result of high fuel costs, which is a result of high fuel demand by the prospering globe and America’s gluttoness and sense of entitlement to consume all the fuel to their Hummer hearts content while warming and cooling bigger and bigger homes, which were purchased on false wealth and financed on the dime of those all over the globe (aka: secondary market), risking the US Wall Street market and the safety of this country once the investors who financed our “American Dream” became enlightened to the scam that lenders and American investors shoved down our “have to have it now” throats!

The majority of Americans do not think ahead or plan for hard times, they have a sense of entitlement, and what they want, they will have regardless if they can afford it or not. Millions of Americans make their never ending purchases on credit cards which also creates a false sense of growth but still causes inflation and higher costs for the few like me who pay cash for everything.

Look, the bottom line is we are in this funk because of bad leadership from Dubya and because we fail to take responsibility and accountability for our own actions and futures, which made it easy for us to be lured to the mercy of corporate greed. I live in a border city in Texas which was the first place to be affected by NAFTA over 10 years ago, and it improved this city, it did not make it worse. It is because we had good leadership that invested in educating and training programs that led all the factory workers to go on and make more money than they would have ever made had they been left to make that decision for themselves. Our city was about 60% factory workers and now we have transitioned into the information age as should the rest of this country. That is the way NAFTA was intended. It was never intended to only benefit the greedy corporate CEO’s that never passed on any savings to the American consumer and also moved on to exploit cheap labor. It is failed leadership on the local and state level of government that have failed the places affected by NAFTA. There has also been an influx of immigrants because they are here on Visa’s granted in bulk by the Bush Administration for his coffers to exploit cheap labor that cannot be moved over seas. We need to remember where the root of today’s problem lies that affects us ALL as Americans.

Does all of this concern me? Yes

Does all of this worry me? Yes

Does all of this break my heart? Yes

Do I look forward to better days? Yes

    Am I bitter? NO

Is this and this only what has made me cling to my religion? NO

I have turned to my religion way before times got hard. That is something that I thought was a good thing.

I refuse to let Bush ever make me bitter. I am not that weak minded, despite what Obama pleas is the truth about all of America being “bitter.” Bush pisses me off most of the time, but he can never make me bitter. I do not even hate him, because hate is an emotion, and I feel no emotion towards him.

To say that Obama is telling the truth about clinging to guns and religion because of the economic woes of this country is ridiculous, unrealistic and just plain ignorant. It also takes focus and blame away from where it is due, and that is with Bush. It is BUSH and erroneous leadership that has screwed everything up. We need to get back to remembering what America is and how great this country is and stop being lured to self loathing while insulting this country to justify what Obama says. This country has plenty of greatness and will continue to be great. It is the Bush Administration that has been the jaws of policy that threaten us and the globe, not the "typical, gun-clinging, religious-clinging, bitter and irrational" US Citizens as Obama and all of his supporters would like to suggest.

America has very closely regarded their constitutional rights and their right to practice religion for hundreds of years, this did not start because we all of a sudden became "bitter." One has nothing to do with the other. To suggest otherwise is insulting to all of our intelligence, including Obama himself.
