Puppet Government plus Mercenaries
To me it is clear that the current Iraqi government is truly a puppet government essentially put in place by the Bush administration..and if and when we ever leave that country, it will truly dissolve as quickly as an ice cube on the desert sand. And the so called Iraqi army is essentially a collection of Iraqi mercenaries who's hearts are just not in it. Absent the Americans and a steady paycheck.. or put in a situation where they are fighting their kind, they will drift quietly into the night.. and probably reappear on the other side. Lets face it, ours is an unpopular occupation, and things will never truly settle until we vacate the place. It will probably result in substantial additional bloodshed, but how's that any different than what's taking place now? And the resultant prospect of terrorists swarming all over the world is just as improbable as the Commies taking over after the fall of Vietnam.. besides.. they are our "friends" now anyway.. as evidenced by China, Vietnam, etc.
