The only authority granted the Federal government in the case of insurrection is to restore public order, and order the insurents to disperse.
If the government has the authority to "order" insurgents to disperse then they have the authority to use violence to enforce the order.
Authority to give orders strongly implies an authority to enforce those orders and all enforcement of orders eventually boils down to an application of force if the orders are not followed.

The fall of America will come because we took God out of the public square: no prayer or Bibles or Ten Commandments in public schools, courthouses and business, and no Christian displays during the holidays.

Saddam Hussein killed millions, during the period when the Reagan and Bush administrations were propping him up. Twenty years later, you have a crisis of retroactive conscience?
Similarly there would be no Al Qaeda if the Reagan administration hadn't helped bin Laden create it, because they were killing Russians indiscriminately at the time, not Americans.
Of course, that's the link between Al Qaeda and Saddam the Bushies have been looking for; both were supported militarily by the Reagan administration.

Iraq lies and the gullibility and ignorance of the American public which can't be overestimated.
American is the only country in the history of the universe where the public derives its sense of security by shopping. That's why Bush told the American public to go shopping after 9/11, to cater to their sense of how they derive their security, from external stimuli. Americans have been forged into a society and culture of NARCISSISTIC-CONSUMERIST-GLUTTONS. Just observe the TV advertisements. It's no wonder that Bush and the NEOCONs treat the residents of this country with disdain and proceed to steal their treasure and kill our own and other citizens with impunity. How and why are Americans conditioned to accept the abuse and insults reaped on it by the government, corporations and the churchianity religionists which work in concert to create this conditioning. First, the churchianity-religionists who insult and abuse their congregations of fools with false doctrines[the Fornications of the Bible] by pretend christian preachers[the Harlots of the Bible]calling them names and in the next breath begging these same fools for money and the fools give them money. The organizations are tax exempt, subsidized by the taxpayers. Communism for god. Next, advertising which is demeaning and insulting telling their audiences how worthless and ugly they are and all that they own is old, obsolete and needs replacement. These strings of ads end with an ad for Zoloft. The government uses the knowledge about gleaned from private companies to tailor their propaganda to manipulate the public into being irrationally fearful. They just use the same techniques used by the Nazi's which was articulated by Goering while he was awaiting his trial at Nuremberg. He said it all in one simple paragraph, how easy it was to manipulate the public and that the principals were universal. Fear

Oh, it's not just President Bush's fault? Now, President Reagan is one of the culprits!
Just as an aside, I don't give a rat's ass about the Russian Communists and how many Al-Qaeda killed. Okay?
You know, a president works with what he has at the time, and with whom he can. At the time, Russia was the big bad wolf, and President Reagan wisely allowed the Iraqis to help us fight them.
During World War II, the Western Allies used Russia to help us fight the Germans. We don't always have a bumper crop of paragons of virtue to pick from. Welcome to the real world.
I find it amazing that Al-Qaeda were all over the Middle East, yea, all over the world, but they never stepped foot into Iraq. Is that what you want me to believe? I have always had the gut-wrenching feeling that Saddam Hussein's fingers were all over 9/11. He probably directed the whole scenario, undercover, of course. It was more beneficial for Saddam to keep his malevolent contacts secret. Call me crazy!

Dude, you ARE crazy.
It wasn't enough that the 9/11 Comission said Saddam had nothing to do with it? What about all the other independent studies that said he was not connected to 9/11?
No?
Okay, the DoD recently came out and said Saddam Hussein not only had no connection to 9/11, but no meaningful connection to Al Qaeda. If nobody else, I'd figure you'd trust Bush's DoD.

The 9/11 Commission Clinton Cover-Up Report
-- bizona, I guess you bought the Bill Clinton cover-up group, the 9/11 Commission Report, hook, line and sinker. The whole purpose of that Report was to cover BJ Clinton's ass. His negligence caused 9/11. He also cut our military and intelligence services. Then President Bush is accused of lying when our intelligence services foul up. It takes years of living among the enemy to replace what BJ Clinton destroyed. Plus, he sold US military secrets to the ChiComs for campaign money. Can the Clintons to anything legal?
Learned last night on Charlie Rose (from Perle) that there is new evidence of Saddam's dealings with Al-Qaeda friendly groups before the 9/11 event. Just wait, the truth will come out, in spite of liberals standing in the way of it.
