Dumbing down
malfred81, the grammar you cited is due to the dumbing down by our public education system. Fill the unionized teachers' pockets, but make sure they don't teach anything. We're told it costs more to teach better. Nowadays, we have proof that it costs more to teach worse.
I'm always amazed at the misuse of:
in/into --- Jumping in a pool is different from jumping into a pool.
who/whom --- "Who" is the subjective (Who said that?), while "whom" is the objective (They elected whom for president?). "Who" is doing the action, while the action is done to "whom".
among/amongst --- "Amongst" is not a word.
I see these mistakes in major newspapers. There are others, but I won't bore you.
