    ------------------------------------

The pastor of my church, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who recently preached his last sermon and is in the process of retiring, has touched off a firestorm over the last few days. He's drawn attention as the result of some inflammatory and appalling remarks he made about our country, our politics, and my political opponents.

Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy. I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it's on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue.

Because these particular statements by Rev. Wright are so contrary to my own life and beliefs, a number of people have legitimately raised questions about the nature of my relationship with Rev. Wright and my membership in the church. Let me therefore provide some context.

    etc.

    --------------

That is not dismissive. You just wish it was.

  • @ Peeps

...arrogance personified, Peeps. You excuse and accuse in the same post.

Obama will lose. You just wish he wouldn't.

  • Too Divisive

Clinton should have gotten out of the race by now. She only succeeds in further mucking up the party. Obama appeals to more independents and republicans than she does as a matter of fact she doesn't appeal to those groups at all. The latest poll indicates that 45% of the people polled would NEVER CONSIDER VOTING FOR HER. She can't win just with hard core democarts. Additionally, if she is the Dem nominee, the young people and most African Americans will take a walk because her place on the the ticket will have BEEN STOLEN BY HER AND HER HANDLERS.

  • Before I get cranky.... I'll go to plant onions and shallots....

The TV show called The fattest GOP? The TV weighs people and votes who gets kicked off?

I forget the proper name... Contestants stand there all half naked in a birthday swim suit?

    `

    Justice?

The politics of today seem just as gross.

It's like the obese go to a weight loss clinic? Time to hop on the weight scale.

The internist is shocked. Politician refuses to stand on the scale. O pluck feathers!

    `

A senile McCain enters a nursery and sings: Each stanza of: 'Paul Revere's Ride'... er.

"er" Will you vote for Hillary? Obama? McCain? er - O, with serious reserve and a hesitation.

~er a cup of cabbage stew? okay. Happy Saint Patrick Day. A dark sudsy beer? A 4-leaf on top?

Okay. We need more than feigned Good Luck. Get the GOP ducks to the local taxidermist office? A trophy!

Stop spinning. Citizens get too dizzy.

Turn the country back inside up or we upchuck...

    Gads.

    apologies Thomas Schaller.

I'd shout @ Glenn's if he were there.

He needs to snooze. And no drink booze.

  • Transcendent Candidate

Barack Obama is the most electable. He did an absolutely transcendent, beautiful job of handling a threat to his electability when he emphasized that he, Obama, is of a new, finer generation of American as he elegantly threw his minister under the bus and removed him from his website. The minister is squashed, but you don't hear the screams or see the blood. Hillary, by contrast, would not know how to use her minister's demagoguery as a sly means of attacking her opponent, which Obama did transcendently in hinting that his minister was part of the problem of those terrible 60's people (hint, hint, what generation is Hillary?). Obama is electable because he is God. Go ahead, folks, and put everything he says in Red Letters.

I don't excuse Wright. I find his sermen appalling.

Obama didn't excuse Wright. I don't know what else you want from Obama a citizen's' arrest maybe.

I find your posts appalling also. And yet I still come to Salon.com.

  • Sure, go ahead and fight - let John McShame win!

Since when have democrats been united on any issue? Why expect more from these two historic candidates?

Why not let the commentators and so-called journalists continue to fictionalize and exploit the differences between Barack and Hillary.

Go ahead, play into their hands? Are you both so dumb to believe that everyone is enjoying your childish behavior - other than the republicans of course. Grow up!

  • oh my -

I forgot to include Ana in my post as useless!

  • peeps

I love the music sound of the Spring time peeps.

I just took a morning bath. I love plump people.

The last " peep " from me was not critical of fat.

The citizen should sit at a Spring peeper Place.

    `

Bathing I thought: Most nudist beaches need rules?

Most people are not very attractive with no clothes?

No. We don't need to use Hollywood standard rules.

Vote whoever recruits statesmen & ladies in clothes.

Vote conscience! Who will less likely ruin the world?

Think posterity and children need our discrimination.

No wear the bib-overall in a bathtub. Vote for wisdom.

  • it's not easy -

to like celery - even if its "good celery" but on the beaches

of Italy a look good without their clothes!

  • Respect to pacrat

A flashback. I was drafted into tricky Nixon's 'dirty war'...

A likable soldier named Murphy was a radio-man-carrier.

His nickname was "Pack rat." He broke down and pooped.

Honest. He was placed in the 'rear' area and never bathed.

    `

You aren't a Nam vet are you?

If you are or aren't who cares?

Just ... bathe... once a month?

Pack rat had a dangerous job.

    The radio man was humping!

In a jungle war? er hump bush.

That's what it was called. Hump.

We woke up and humped bush.

Ask any ground grunt still alive.

    There aren't many still around.

Most were dumped in a grave.

  • Rev. Wright now Rev. Wrong not from my vantage point...

The bulk of Rev. Wright's rants were right on the $$$.. Of course Obama should not be attacked in the guilt by assoc net but America is a fadish place where group think is the norm..

Again what did the good Rev state that was inaccurate???

  • Thank you M. Celery :)

And a mighty-fine Celery Green Beer for you, my friend :)
