Quit arguing about who would be more electable in November. You both have strengths -- and weaknesses -- on the electoral map against John McCain.

  • @Uncle Fester

    Thanks for the reasoned reply.

Obviously he can ask voters to focus on the more critical issues or what church he believes in. But let me reiterate my scenario: 1 month (or less) before election day the Repubs blanket the airwaves with 30sec soundbites of Wright's rantings and Obama's relationship with him. How will voters react?

I feel from your post that you are hoping voters won't be fooled by the tactic I am describing. And I'm with you on that -- I wish it were true, too. But I doubt it very much. Hence one of my old posts (in a different thread) where I ranted that "I've given up on the ability of the American voter to wisely choose their politicans".

So my argument here is that Obama's "electability" has taken a large hit with this flap. But maybe not. Only time will tell.

  • Baiting The Obamatons

One question: if your candidate is so damned strong, why the great hue and cry for Hillary to drop out before the nomination has been decided? Whats the rush?

Doing the math, it is apparent that neither candidate will have the nomination decided by convention time. This will have to be decided AT the convention.

You may all be naifs at this, but, try to understand the concept; in the words of the legendary Yogi Berra...it ain't over till its over.

    And, it certainly ain't over!

  • Racist Arandi

The double standard which some blacks use to judge racism amazes me. It's OK for "Reverend" Wright to spout racist, hateful garbage about the US and to exclude whites completely from his church, to say nothing of giving awards to the vile Farrakhan, himself openly racist and anti-Semitic.

And where does the hostility to Israel arise from some black leaders? It's by far the most democratic country in the 3rd world, and nowhere in that arena are minorities, religious and racial, treated better ( highest standard of living in Arab world for Arabs is for those living in Israel)

And it seems that many black "leaders" have forgotten how instrumental and supportive Jews were in the early civil rights movement, an attitude very hurtful and difficult to understand for American Jews.

So examine your own house (and its "leaders") first

Arandi, and tell us who the real "racists' are these days!

(And Tom Payne: one wonders where your misplaced sympathies arise from -- strange I never hear any concern from you about the hundreds of thousands murdered all over the Muslim world, or for Israeli civilians cut down by Islamic terrorist, but your concern for the rocket-firing Gazans if they lose electricity for several hours is striking!).

You ought to reflect what in your background causes you to harbor these distorted views about the Middle East which are so in variance to the reality of the situation there.

And BTW, I'm a devout Christian!

  • Devout?

The moment you say devout you contradict yourself. Pharisee. And I abhor American foreign policy, it murder of Iraqis and others, its turning a blind eye to massive ethnic cleansing in Africa, more than I can say. As far as Israel: the ratio of dead Israelis to dead Palestinians is about one to ten. Israel is the occupier. They have the army. This is not to condone rockets attacks or bombings of civilians. If Israel was more concerned about the moral high ground and not the Golan Heights, the Gaza, or the other territories they have occupied since '67 they'd be far better off. Israel is an aggressor nation, by and large. Do they deserve civilian casualties? They do not. do they provoke rage in the displaced Palestinians? Damn right. Now, tell me again how holy you are. Pharisee.

  • @jjppmd: Racist Israel and Jewish's racism long legacy in America..

I know when one dares to comment about Israel's legacy of selling guns to South Africa during aparthied one is attacked as being antisemitic... and of course when one dares to talk about jewish racism during jim crow and when jewish bigots like former mayor of new york or jewish professors at our universities who promote bell curve hate and blacks with inferior DNA's.... one is called a"swatrza" if they reject jewish racism..

Jews get upset with Blacks when they will not attack the usual WASPS suspects but dare to attack Jewish bigots..the truth hurts..

    WHY??
