Letters to the Editor

Based on his policies and the company he keeps, this year's Republican presidential candidate sounds a lot like the guy who ran in 2000 and 2004.
  • well..he is an old man, and he is in a hurry.

He had been written off, and has come back. In 2000 he was majorly stiffed by Rove and decided that he couldn't beat this formidable machine so he may as well join it.

To me McCain demonstrates one thing that it has taken me years to absorb (somewhat Eliot Spritzer like). One's instinct that moralizing grandstanders [SURELY] can't be lying as they'd have too much to lose, is actually faulty. Over-moralizing grandstanders do lie and cheat. It's part of some mental-hygiene self-preservation trait, the belief that one is good and that others have made you act corruptly, that acting corruptly has not changed the essence ,i.e basic goodness that better represents who you really are.

McCain is given to frequent claims of his own superior moral fibre, so listen out for these, and look for the lie contained within.

If the Americans vote for McCain, which is not impossible, they will only hasten the massive crash that their society is headed for, since a reality check is surely coming the US's way.

Perversely it would be good if he won, that way he and the Republicans would be blamed in perpetuity for bringing the country to its knees.

Watching Bush's 'endorsement' of McCain, the words 'damn' and 'faint praise' come readily to mind.
