Could Hillary supporters knock it off with this "you're only voting against her because you're a sexist pig" line? I must have had that one thrown at me a hundred times during this election cycle, and I'm heartily sick of it.
As a feminist, I consider it both a personal insult - who the hell are you to tell me that I'm sexist? You don't even KNOW me! - and demeaning to feminism as well. I'd happily vote for a woman candidate, but my support or lack of support for ANY candidate has absolutely nothing to do with with they've got - or not - between their legs. Until the day comes that my wife runs for office (and she tells me that that's not going to happen).
The simple truth is that Hillary has made one disastrous decision after another.
The health care debacle - she should have gone with single-payer from the start. She'd still have been creamed by the health insurance industry, but at least she'd have been taking a stand on principle.
The Iraq vote. Was Senator Clinton stupid? Did she really think that Bush and Cheney wouldn't take advantage of the biggest political and financial gift they could ever wish for? Because it sure seemed obvious to me that they were going to use that vote to go to war. If Hillary isn't smarter than me (or at least as smart), she shouldn't be President.
Contrariwise, if she took a long look at that authorization and decided that a vote against it would be harmful to her future Presidential run, she coldly sacrificed American lives and the fortunes of her own political party - not to mention countless Iraqis, the American budget, etc. etc. etc. - for her own political future. And yet that vote backfired on her! Either way, it's criminal incompetence.
I could go on. The bankruptcy bill. The flag-burning bill. A campaign in chaos, filled with incompetent cronies burning through tens of millions of dollars.
Claims of "experience" that include every minute she has spent since getting out of law school - and what has that experience produced? What real accomplishment can Senator Clinton point to?
She could have the biggest dick in the universe, and it wouldn't matter a bit. And don't try to tell me that I'm tilting the playing field by somehow defining qualification for the Presidency using specifically male qualities, because I'm not. Not unless competence, intelligence, and honesty are specifically male qualities - and if you're saying that, you're the one insulting women, not me.
