Letters to the Editor

Villemar -- who are you to call anyone an idiot?
Earlier in this commentary section before you called me a disgusting idiot, you used the bete noire of Ann Coulter to insult another letter writer -- "Texas Dem aka Anon."
It seems like you can't come up with anything else to respond with when women believe in voting for other women.
Wow.
Such limited logic from someone who considers them self to be so brilliant.
If you took the time to google Emily's List you might learn something about the importance of changing the face of power and the possibilities that result when women come together to support other women. But no, you apparently prefer to spend your time being a troll.
Reading your Salon commentary history, you come across as a garden variety Hillary hater without an original thought in your head. Like most haters, you fail to articulate any reason for your hate. Your resorting to name calling is just bonus.
Disgusting idiot is such enlightened discourse.
Bravo. You sure showed me! Gosh, I am cowed by your intellect and wisdom and will change my opinion to mirror yours right now - not.
If Barak wins the nomination, I will happily vote for him with a song in my heart -- but as long as there is a woman in the race, I will be voting my gender and could care less what haters like you think about that...
PS -- you also ought to read the Salon letter publication TOS and contemplate the meaning of "excessively rude."

Rebecca, where are you?
In California? In New York?
Are you going to tell us how you solved your electoral dilemma? Not that your vote mattered in the two big enchilada states...but I'm curious.

@LT Bohica
Well, ad hominums are probably the worst way to win an argument, and for that I apologize.
You clearly are not an idiot. But mark my words, a vote for Clinton is a vote for McCain in November. A McCain win means the end of Roe v. Wade. Just something to consider.

Looking for Substance...
I, too, am an undecided voter. But, after the Obama accolades delivered by Caroline Kennedy and other members of America’s royalty, I went looking for the text of Obama's Iowa speech and found a news link that mentioned Obama's extensive use of a teleprompter...Ooops...I thought.
And that ooops eventually led to “What Would Obama Say?” Those stirring words, the words that are inspiring so many young and once young idealists into action and true believer status were written by Jon Favreau. Meet the talented Mr. Favreau at http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/20/fashion/20speechwriter.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&oref=slogin
I’ve heard the clarion call for change, but I want some substance...finer details...if you would. I agree whole heartedly that we need change and that we all need to pull together...but, how will these changes be accomplished? That’s the real question. Change is going to be an uphill fight all the way. Does he have a plan? Or, will he develop it as we go along?
Several American presidents have had incredible speechwriters who penned the words that stirred our souls, but there was no substance behind the beautiful words. I need evidence of substance before I can say “he’s my man” or “she’s my woman.” Can it happen? I don’t know.
Could the country again be seduced by strategically crafted phrases and inspirational words? Ted Sorenson was the man behind JFK’s eloquent speeches. http://www.straightdope.com/columns/031107.html Peggy Noonan was Regan’s wordsmith.
Apparently a great speech writer can make a president. If you want to get ahead or get elected, you'd best have great writing skills or hire someone who does.
Several American presidents have had incredible speechwriters that stirred our souls, but there was no substance behind the beautiful words. Obama has a littered path of “Present” votes in Illinois when he should have stood up and been counted on important constituent issues.
Many stones will be turned between now and Election Day. When you start turning stones, you have to expect to find things you'd just as soon not see. Time will tell. But, for now, we really don’t know Mr. Obama.
Until then, I’ll probably join LT Bohica and others of like conviction and support Hillary.
Why? Misogyny! As long as it’s alive and well, there will never be equality for more than half of earth’s population. Indeed, it is time for change.
Unless something comes to light to change my mind, I, too, will probably choose gender over race. We know Hillary. I don’t know Mr. Obama. For now, I’m only hearing the words of Jon Favreau, Obama’s gifted speechwriter. Think about it.

Clinton
I too was made to feel bad for wanting, needing..to cast my vote to Hillary Clinton. All along she was my choice- and yes, she is a woman...but she is also articulate, intelligent, experienced, with a long history of service to this nation. She was the very FIRST to get healthcare on the sgenda- and now all of em say it.
I am so glad she won my home state of California. I am so proud she will be our next President/
All the white I know who were voting Obama claimed to like HIllary, but the one thing in common those guys had- a bad temper and a sheer jealousy of her husband. Those guys also told me I was stupid for voting Hillary.
The Obama media hype has been *ridiculous* and he is the establishment guy now. Like it or not, that is the way the cookie crumbles. :)GO HILLARY!

McCain-v-Clinton
Hmm. Interesting- a writer noted that he thinks Mccain could beat Hillary. Where I live, where more than half my state voted Bush last time....the republicans I have spoken with and work with (mostly men) say that they will vote Hillary over John McCain. John McCain- I can't wait to see Hillary take him apart on the debate stage.
Not worried about Roe V Wade either- why fear the weak GOP? If the GOP couldn't overturn Roe when they had a loaded bench and a corrupt and partisan Attorney General, there is nothing to fear now but fear itself! Please.....that's just silly!
