On Super Tuesday, for the first time in my life, I will walk into the voting booth without knowing who to vote for. I blame John Edwards.

  • Thanks for walking me through it

I wimped out by sending my VBM ballot early so I wouldn't have to face the choice in earnest. I voted on impulse when I was feeling the strong pull of my gender.I went through all the same levels of thought, emotion and morality. I too blame John Edwards and now realize that he was my refuge. The placement of my vote would satify my principles.I related totally to the article and am delighted with your family tendency to write in the cat.

Speaking of ways of chickening out. As a longtime grassroots activist with Populist leanings, living in a rural community. Normally I'm a strong force for the candidates and issues I believe in.This time I'm strangely silent.

Thank you for helping me work this through. I feel less shame(misery loves company)and am able to better understand my impulsive vote.

  • you're living in my brain!

Thank you, Ms. Traister. I suspect you've verbalized what a good many women (myself, included) are feeling.

  • @Point Blank - yes you are 100% correct.

For weeks I have followed the pundits, the network news, the bloggers and the posters. Never have I seen such nasty, vitriol, distortions, outright lies against any candidate as I have against Senator Clinton. Yet, she still may win. That tells me that she deserves my vote for exhibiting unmatched grace and intellect, not to mention a remarkable grasp of the issues and problems, but the best policies for the country. She has withstood the abuse, yet has not wavered. Her strength is amazing.

I agree. And giggling all smuggling and gleefully as they propped up the rookie they knew they could cream.

HRC is more than just exceptionally competent. She has Godlike patience with an electorate largely unworthy of her. We all enjoyed 8 years of peace and prosperity under the Clinton Admin and then got the worst of the worst and THIS is how they are thanked? Obama has run the filthiest campaign I've ever seen a supposed Democrat run. He's as bad as Rove in my book and has been working way too close with him and other Republicans.

I can't even believe supposed "liberals" are endorsing him.

I wouldn't blame Mrs. Clinton one bit if she should just walk out and take herself to the nearest lobbying firm like everyone else has and leave these selfish, meanspirited Americans to their own worst enemies - themselves.

My red flag has been the brutal attacks on Senator Clinton by surrogates and supporters of Senator Obama. They will not tolerate the smallest criticism or probing question of their candidate.

Oh hell. The clown won't even give press conferences. Meanwhile she takes questions from anyone that wants to ask all the time. Any question. And always has a well-thought out reply.

This behavior smacks of the campaigns and administration of George W. Bush. Every time a citizen, organization or members of Congress posed a question to Bush, his surrogates went loony nuts telling us we were un-patriotic, we dishonored the troops.etc. etc.

That's because the same campaigners must be helping him and many of his "supporters" are those infamous "volunteers" of the RNC. I'm all but sure of it. they did the same thing with Nader to Gore; how short the memory of liberals.

The battlecry worked among the media,(who still gives him a pass), the Democrats, the Congress and the citizens. We cringed, we gave in, we ceased to question. We became fearful. Defensive behavior for any reason is always suspect. Heed it.

Well, on the press's part it was quite deliberate. The party will be fast over for Obama the second Hillary, the serious contender is disabled and out of the way. The RNC is ready to go.

Meanwhile the GOP is enjoying watching us fall for their transparent trap yet again.

I am truly gun shy because I do not know what Obama stands for, his speeches soar, but say little. I cannot buy it.

Oh, didn't you know. He stands for "hope".

I know Senator Clinton is the best candidate, because over the course of decades I've been able to observe, watch and listen. She is standing tall and will make us proud as President Hillary Clinton. It is a priviledge to vote for this remarkable woman.

    Amen,PB. Amen.

  • Re: Health Care

I never said profits of providers were high, nor that it isn't important to beat the Republicans, nor that Healthcare doesn't need to be reformed.

What I am saying is, the Government does not control health care now. This will not change because Hillary Clinton is elected President. Anything we get will end up getting will be after years of work and comprimise, not by decree.

I am not suggesting, don't try.

  • I'm convinced now.

Here's your choice as you have implicitly presented it: do what you have already decided is right, (a vote for Obama), or what is expedient (a vote for a woman when you know it's wrong).

Doing what you know is right will require you to face down some self-image demons and to stand up to what others think. Doing what you know is wrong may take less immediate courage, but it will stunt you.

The same old good versus evil crap. Heck, is a voter guide to the candidates Christian Coalition style next.

I guess the religious right doing some God given volunteer work to help God's party keep control of the WhiteHouse.

  • I'm not inspired

    ...by either Obama or Clinton.

But whoever wins the nomination, can Democrats/liberals/progressives please pull our collective heads out and rally around the nominee?

The country needs new leadership. The Republicans are bereft of ideas, compassion, and principle. Don't hand it to McCain.

Make like a good Republican. Suck it up, hold your nose, and vote the party.

Actually the government, via Medicare and Medicaid is probably paying for up to 70% of the national healthcare outlies. Just in a very inefficient way. And no, a market solution is not the answer as a perfect market driven solution may well leave 200 million people without health coverage instead of the current approximately 60-70 million. Nor is eliminating employer provided insurance without an adequate replacement as the Republicans are salivating to do (and WILL do if they are elected) the answer. An HSA of 2000 and a miracle will get you the care you need if you get cancer or some other dehabilitating disease (diabetes, autoimmune diseases, etc etc).

That said I do agree with HRC that Americans have the responsibility to do a (much) better job taking care of their health if there is universal coverage provided.
