Amen sister.
I planned on voting for Edwards too.
My husband and I were talking about who to vote for now that he is out, and finally we decided that it came down to this...who would you choose to be CEO of your company? Because that is what the presidential job comes down to. Management, leadership, ideas and experience.
That made me stop wavering and I realized that I was going to vote for Hillary. She is simply the best person for the job, period. I too, want to get caught up in Obama-mania, but if it came down to choosing him or Hillary to run my company, Hillary would get the job.
I think that the notion that Hillary can't beat John McCain is disinformation being spread by the Republicans. They said that about her in New York, that she couldn't win, she was an opportunistic carpetbagger, etc. Look at the smear campaign she experienced there, and during the presidency of her husband. She has survived, and PROSPERED. The woman is tough as nails. I like that in a candidate. You can't scare her.
Sure, I don't like some of her decisions, but duh...no one is 100%.
A friend of mine said to me the other day, "But she's such a BITCH." Really? Because if she were a man, those exact same personality traits that Hillary possesses in spades, her tenaciousness, her lack of fear, her brass balls (so to speak) would make her a shoo-in. As a woman, people flip out.
And that, my friend is misogyny, plain and simple. That's another reason why I'm voting for her, to protest the nonstop bullshit she has had to put up with simply by being a woman candidate. Her cleavage! Her emotions! Her wrinkles! Her bitchiness! Her husband!
Give me a freaking break. And I too, think Barack will melt and wither under the Republican assault. Hillary? She will thrive and prosper, as she always does.

Maybe not this woman, but there will be better ones soon
I get what you're saying about being able to decide who to vote for, but is your whole reason for voting Clinton is because you don't want to betray women or your father? Just because there's a woman on the ballot doesn't mean she'll be the last one.
First, of all the women I've ever known, I find it hard to believe that Ms. Clinton is the best example of capable leaders who are women.
Second, the modern educational environment guarantees that there will be more women more capable in later elections who don't believe that being President is a man's job.
The first woman who is elected president will not be compared to her husband. She will be a qualified candidate of her own making. She will not have to appear hawkish to coax the other side. And she will hold a position in her own home state (not one with lax residency requirements) before making a leap at the Oval Office.

Please Remember
A VOTE FOR OBAMA IS A VOTE FOR INTEGRITY, HONESTY AND GENIUS INTELLIGENCE. A VOTE FOR CLINTON IS A VOTE FOR CONTINUED SCANDALS, DISINGENUOUSNESS, AND POLARIZATION. KEEP THIS FRMY IN MIND BEFORE YOU PULL THE LEVER.
THE BEST IS TO COME WITH BARACK AND THE WORST WILL RETUN WITH CLINTON

What a good problem to have
When my Obama-supporting buddies accuse me of making my choice based on gender (not entirely true, as I'd never support a Republican woman), I remind them that it will be sexist to factor that in only when the following are true:
- We make 100 cents on the dollar
- We have more than 15% representation in government
- We have more than 5% representation at the top levels of business.
The same can be said for voting for an African-American based in part on his identity. Since these identities continue to present a barrier to participation in the highest levels of American life, business and government, I don't find it problematic at all to factor it in. It shouldn't be the only factor, of course, and I don't agree with Hillary on all the issues, but she is a damn smart woman, and she's a policy wonk, and we're well overdue for *any* of those characteristics in the Oval Office.
And Rebecca, if this helps your choice any... if you pull that lever for the woman, chances are you'll get both. If you pull it for the man, we're going to have to wait a long, long time for another woman to come around.

Hillary's attitude
As a feisty woman myself, I actually love Hillary's "give 'em hell right back" attitude.
If only she wasn't wrong on important major issues. And if only she didn't equivocate and outright lie to justify these and other positions.
Two big if's in my book - just not enough character for a President.
vote Obama - yet another correct decision by Obama:
"On the issue of the 2005 bankruptcy law, it is only Senator Obama who can claim he did the right thing".
For all of those who dismiss Obama supporters as "lunatics" ... I've given a lot of facts to back up support of Obama (rather than lunacy), and most of the Hillary supporters can come up with nothing other than general nasty grams about Obama supporters being young or crazy, general platitudes about Hillary's "experience", or the vague assertions that she should be pardoned for her mistakes (even if she doesn't admit they were mistakes).

Hillary is "tough as nails"????
She cried again today.
She can't stand the continued pressure. Perception that she's tough as nails does not qualify her to be president, especially since that's a 24/7 job with more constant pressure than any other job, if done well.
Hillary is who the Republicans want to win the nomination. That speaks volumes.
Personally, Hillary's baggage because of her husband and his pecadilloes will cause me to reach for the "O" on the ballot. He's far tougher than Hillary, has a classy wife who we won't be worried about "wandering around the White House with nothing to do". Romney did get that one right.
Who wants Hillary's work to be soiled by Bill's extracurricular activities? If Hillary's in the WH, the focus will be on Monica's ex-boyfriend and he'll be a total distraction from whatever she's trying to do.
He's so consumed and impressed with himself, he'll never take the back seat and all of the hope we have for Hillary to move this country forward will bog down in Bubba's quicksand of his sickness and his preoccupation with keeping the spotlight on himself.
Hillary is not the candidate for me. It won't be worth another four or eight years of Bubba's distractions, his conceitedness, his open mouth, insert foot behaviour. If Hillary's in the WH, the Republicans will have a field day trying to catch him in a compromising situation.
Knowing Bubba and his weaknesses, it won't take long before the Republicans catch him and we hear "gotcha" all over again.
Hillary's only chance is for Bill to take a permanent vacation somewhere for the time she's in the WH. He embarrassed us enough in the WH. If she appoints him Ambassador to the World, he'll embarrass all of us all over the world. His greed, wandering eye and inability to keep his pants zipped and his penchant for playing while the cat's away, will be exactly what the Republicans want.
Michele Obama has more class in her pinkie than either Hillary or Bubba and I would be proud to see her bring prestige to the White House as she supports her husband in his endeavours to move this country forward.
You can be assured that Bubba Clinton would not support Hillary. Every day he'd be second guessing her decisions and trying to usurp her role. And every time he was near a microphone, Hillary would have to worry about what came out of his mouth.
NOT FOR ME. They had their chance to show us class, conscience, credibility, character and clout. They failed. I'm moving on. It's too important to let them have another failed attempt. It's just what the Republicans want.
