Oh Really?
"Easy answer:
KERRY IS ONE OF OBAMAS ENDORSERS! DID HE MAKE A MISTAKE ALSO?
Yes he did, back when he took the politically cowardly vote to authorize the war. He is making up for it in part by supporting a man who had better judgement and more political courage than he does.

No wonder he lost the election for the Democrats all due to swift boating and flip flopping!

Yawn!
Texas Democrat - you're getting a bit off topic ... what is it about you Texans anyway (well, okay I do heart Lance Armstrong)
Anyway - just wanted to say say pieceofcake you are so very right!!!! (pg 31)

I think you know who to vote for
Rebecca, please just read your own column and I think you'll see that if you vote for the person, and not the gender or race, your choice is already made. You made a much, much better case for Obama than for Clinton. Think about it .... and then vote on the basis of your conscience, not your gender or race politics.

Oprah
I am going to post about Oprah from other thread focusing on her endorsement of Obama...So Miss Money Bags is upset that people are calling her a traitor? TOO F@%&in bad...here she is, trading in on women's problems, day in day out and she off and chooses a MAN...sounds like being a traitor to me. Oprah's judgement has been seriously suspect of late...here is another example of its poor quality.

To Mr. Sandy!
"I was just about to sleep...
I was going to try to go to sleep--and I hate that I made myself get back up to make an irrelevant point to a bunch of strangers who could really care less--but here I am...
I never addressed my views on the war, or my views about Hillary's controversial vote, and I feel it is something that I must explain.
First of all, I hate this war. I want it ended as soon as possible (but I want it ended properly).
Second, this war has depleted out resources and is now threatening to override our domestic interests and will soon incapacitate every segment of our economy not connected to the Haliburtons of this world, so it must end.
Third, we have no real reason to continue mediating a civil war that would have taken place if Saddam Hussein had lost power in some other way.
Fourth, this war has taken on cultural significance that extends beyond the rank and file membership of the minutely populated fringe group who call themselves Al-Qaeda. We are not at war with Islam. This war must end before it becomes that.
Those are some of the reasons I want this war to end.
So, how can I support Sen. Clinton? Right?
Simple. Because then I am not sure that I wouldn't have voted the same way. I was really angry back then, I really was. I usually abhor nationalism on any level--though I am deeply patriotic--but I grew increasingly nationalistic for a short time after 9/11. Those were tough time people, even for someone like myself who try to educate himself and tries to stay informed. Do not forget that Hillary and Charles Schumer represented New York during that time. It was their constituents who bombed. It was the greatest city in the world that was bombed. I knew much about Saddam's regime and when I was told by my President (and despite my hatred of the man he is still that) that Iraq was harboring terrorists and was attempting to assemble weapons of mass destruction I did not think that it was entirely not possible. Perhaps some part of me even wanted to believe it, I don't know.
My point it that I probably would have cast the same vote given the information we all were given. And so I cannot hold her to a higher standard than I would myself. I just can't. That is why I admire her more for not caving into pressure and pandering to party loyalists who ask for an apology, because in my gut I don't feel she owes anyone an apology. She was asked at horrible time in our history to make a difficult decision and she did, it was what she was charged to do. Of course, knowing what we all know now it seems ridiculous but things were not so clear then.
Peace. NOW I am can go to sleep.
END THE WAR!
VOTE!
-- Robert Sandy"
Perfectly said! How do any of us have a right to say what we would have done when we were all fooled by Bush! Really think about that people! This is not a game, this is about people lives and REALITY, not inspiration! I have been inspired for change since Nov 2001 when Bush stole the election! Obama didn't inspire me to want change, Bush did! I want him GONE!

texan - don't go to bed
the problem with all these kind of arguments is - There are
people who think "war" is an effective way of solving a
problem like Saddam and there are people who know it is
a stupid, useless, outdated, expensive suicidal way as proven by the bush administration. I don't know how many Texans each
year die, by shooting themselves by accident in various parts
of their body - get over it dude - If you go in for the "kill"
do it clever like Obama!

Why Iraq tells you not to vote for Hillary
Because a certain post on this subject requires a rebuttal.
After 9/11 America was an angry nation where people were looking for someone to take it out on. Passions ran high and pascifism was an unpopular viewpoint.
Of course, prior to 9/11 Bush was already looking like a dud, with the world slowly moving away from America and the economy going plunk in the toilet bowl.
Afghanistan happened, and for the first time in history a war in Afghanistan looked sort of workable. America was fighting the good fight against people who banned music because they were just that up their own backsides.
Bush and the Republicans utilised this to start a war in Iraq, on evidence which Congress and the Senate had already dismissed years earlier under Bill Clinton. Hillary Clinton and Joseph Lieberman were instrumental in arguing for the war, possibly based on their own angry emotions.
Barack Obama, at that moment stood against the war despite likely feeling exactly the same things that the then war supporters felt. He stood up and called the war wrong.
Barack Obama demonstrated at that moment one trait which was missing from Edwards (Though I preferred Edwards as a candidate) and Hillary - he could set his emotions aside and think clearly.
So between the two candidates on that one issue, I would take Obama. That I could identify with Hillary (Though I opposed Iraq from the start) is irrelevant. What is relevant is which candidate showed the ability to think clearly in a time of crisis.
You are not punishing Hillary by voting Obama on that point. Nor are you punishing Obama by voting against him on healthcare. You are voting for the person you think will run America best, and a cool head under pressure is an important part of that.
